The Living History Centre is Back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are thrilled to announce an educational partnership between Red Barn Productions and the Living History Centre.  Founded by Ron and Phyllis Patterson in 1968, the Living History Centre (LHC), now in its 50th year, has continued to support educational programming and the arts all these years.  Now it will once again be providing programming and resources for Dickens Fair participants!  This will NOT change how you register or participate.
As the first phase of this partnership, the Dickens Fair Workshops will become the Living History Centre's College of Performing Arts. Robert Young will administrate the program for the LHC.
All performers at the Dickens Christmas Fair will be students of the Living History Centre, with ongoing instruction as part of their recital at the Fair. Red Barn Productions will contract directly with those individuals and groups who receive expense reimbursement or compensation.
As students of the Living History Centre, a California 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, participants may be able to receive certain types of school credit for completion of the program. Please consult with your school administration. More on this in forthcoming Missives.
Workshop registration will be free and completed online via Eventbrite. Red Barn Productions will provide gate passes and all the other benefits of Dickens Fair participation to everyone who completes the required workshops and is successfully cast into a show or group at the Fair.
Please visit the LHC website: livinghistorycentre.org to learn more about the Centre, including the new home of the LHC Library and Archive, available as a resource - on a request basis - for students and directors.
Look for details on registration, class offerings, and schedule from Robert in upcoming missives.
Teachers and those interested in teaching for the first time should contact Robert Young or look for an email from him soon.
Contact Robert or Kevin if you have questions.
We are delighted to be welcoming five new vendors to our merchant community this year:
Peruse the colorful art quilts made with wool for your wall or the playful colorful trees and table mats all from wool dyed and felted by the Artist in residence.
Salt Peddlers (Larson): Salt Peddlers brings tasty treasures from exotic lands for the betterment of the Empire and the favor of Her Majesty, Queen Victoria. After many months of travel on the worlds oceans, the finest salts and spices arrive safely in London's harbor and are delivered to our humble shop.
McPherson Knives (McPherson): Handmade and custom knives. From hand forged Damascus steel to hand ground blades, using exotic materials from around the world.
New Photo I.D System & Passhouse Location
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Mark Solum)

To provide easier access through the Participant entrance, Red Barn has invested in a new photo I.D. system.   With your photo on your laminated pass, you will not have to carry a second form of  I.D.  Additional hours and even certain weekdays pre-fair will be added to Passhouse hours as this new system will add processing time the first year.   In future years, it will take less time as your photo will remain in the system and your new pass will be ready for you upon completion of  the normal requirements.    The Passhouse will also now be located in a trailer near the Annex (with tenting) to provide appropriate separation between the Participant entrance and where you obtain your passes.

Fezziwigs Warehouse is Looking for Outgoing People

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Dave Batzloff and Elizabeth Schluntz)
"We can dance if we want to.  We can leave your friends behind.  'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, then they're no friends of mine."  Does this sound like your life?  Then Fezziwigs wants YOU!
Fezziwigs Warehouse is always looking for new actors who dance and dancers who act to join our team.  Not 100% confident with your acting or dancing?  Don't worry - what we really need are people who are willing to TRY.
Those interested in joining the happiest little company party on earth should email the directors, Dave Batzloff (Mr. Fezziwig) and Elizabeth Schluntz (Mrs. Fezziwig) at [email protected].
