In the shadow of the historic, gigantic World War II blimp hangars on the former Tustin Marine Corps Air Station, the newly-opened Flight at Tustin Legacy, a state-of-the-art mixed use office campus located near the corner of Red Hill and Barranca Parkway, has asserted its presence through the commissioning and installation of large-scale murals by SoCal artists John Park, Bunnie Reiss and Orange County's Josh Agle (known as Shag). A 48 x 10 foot work painted by one of the region's most prolific and best-loved muralists, Emigdio Vasquez, is now on display at the Heritage Museum of Orange County, following its rediscovery and restoration by the late artist's daughter. Read about it here in the OC Register article.

Artist Wyland painted his original iconic "Whaling Wall" mural in 1981 in Laguna Beach and has created another 100 of them around the world to help fund his nonprofit Foundation's ocean conservation work. Painted over by a property owner in the 1990s, the artist recently returned to re-create it--this time on canvas. Read more in the OC Register article here.

The 260-foot-long mural on a wall above the river channel was started around 1977 by Southern California Chicano artist and teacher Manuel Hernandez-Trujillo. His daughter, Xóchitl Zuniga, and several Atwood residents have been leading community painting days to bring the mural back to its original glory as well as add to it.
