Climate Summit 2020

Arizona Student Energy Conference (AZSEC) at Biosphere 2
The Arizona Student Energy Conference will be held at Biosphere 2 on November 13-15. The theme this year is "Creating a Low Carbon Future,” and AriSEIA President Brandon Cheshire will be speaking on a panel at the event. Click here to learn more.

Tucson Electric Power (TEP) Rate Case :
AriSEIA is intervening in the TEP rate case , and our policy committee is forming an official steering committee to manage the intervention process. Please contact Board Members Sara Birmingham, and Court Rich, with inquiries.

Joint Stakeholder Proposal for New Energy Rules :
27 parties, including AriSEIA, have signed on to the Joint Stakeholder Proposal for New Energy Rules , which includes enforceable standards surrounding the Renewable Energy Standard, Energy Efficiency Requirements, and more. These parties are lobbying the ACC and staff to put these items on the agenda for a vote. Click here to learn more.

APS General Rate Case :
Earlier this year, the Arizona Corporation Commission voted to require APS to file a new rate case by Oct. 31, 2019. Click here to view the docket, and stay tuned for more updates.

National Updates
North America Smart Energy Week
North America Smart Energy Week is the largest gathering of solar, smart energy, energy storage and hydrogen fuel cell professionals in North America.
DOE directs $35M for carbon storage projects eligible for extended tax credit
The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy announced Friday a total of  $110 million in cost-shared research funding  for carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects.
Utility-scale solar pipeline hits 37.9 GW, driven by falling costs and corporate buying: Report
Despite a dip in U.S. solar installations in the second quarter,  new analysis from Wood Mackenzie and the Solar Energy Industries Association predicts 17% growth for 2019, with 12.6 GW total of new solar capacity expected to come online.
