Fluff Your Pup memories from 2018

Christina's Corner
Fall is here!

Since Day One at His & Her Fitness my mission has been helping "Helping one person at a time live a healthy life". I believe a healthy life includes handling the stresses and pressure of everyday life in an optimal way. Many of you may not know this, but I love reading books. And the ones that help (aka self help) are my favorites. I know it is easy to think that no one else has had "this experience" prior to us. But someone has. And finding those people that have been successful with a challenge and have shared that story is a gift.

I am honored to share with you a book recommended by one of my clients -- a book that goes in line with the values of His & Her Fitness. The book The Hormone Diet by Natasha Turner, ND. A new season is a nice time to incorporate changes, so I recommend you get started with this book! There are lots of options -- you can download the audio or e-book versions, or buy the hardback. This book is science-based and full of facts. For those that are couples, I feel it would be an amazing book to read together, sharing which habits you could use each other's support on. FYI...I have read this book and know there is one chapter that is a little advanced, but please just read through it -- you never know if you will need it.

Our goal at His & Her Fitness is to fight fads, but also to know what they are and see what people like about them. I believe that people like fads because it's so easy to have a clear plan. However, we are each individuals where our unique stresses, controllables, worklife, family, neighbors, friends, and more, can be obstacles that make simple things not so simple. To me, simplicity in a healthy life includes working out, eating clean, maintaining cardio, and relaxing. It's all about balance, but working with what you have. The core message of The Hormone Diet fits right in with this H&H philosophy.

It's always fun seeing clients get to the spot where they are fit and healthy -- and only need to lift, keep eating mindfully, and maintain cardio. Know that we are here for you and grateful that you rock your health. Stay strong! Your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers are watching you and may need your encouragement to join you in a fitness journey. Make a warm environment for anyone you know that is not proactive.

I had seen His & Her Fitness results before I ever heard about the gym. Running into Jenny Stilley after her 8 weeks to greatness inspired me to reach out.

My fitness journey has been more of a fitness flounder since having kids. I staggered clumsily and sometimes helplessly through every fad workout and diet I came across. Never truly committing or thriving in each one I tried. I hated the way I felt about my body but felt hopeless and afraid of what it would take to really get in shape.

When I applied for the 8 weeks to greatness program I was completely intimidated. This was the farthest out of my comfort zone I have ever put myself. When I walked into the gym that first time for measurements, a workout, and a nutrition plan; it was a roller coaster of emotions. Embarrassment, anxiousness, and doubt were replaced with hope, encouragement, and determination. They were so kind, non-judgmental, encouraging and made me believe I could do it.

I was ready, I was going to go after this, I wanted this. Even though I didn't get chosen for the 8 weeks to greatness program I was still encouraged by the progress I had made in a few short weeks. After talking with Monica I knew I still wanted to do this really bad. The nutrition plan, daily food journals, at-home cardio, and training sessions are WORKING.

The team at His & Her Fitness have guided, supported and pushed me exactly when I needed it. They have turned my horrible impression of eating right and working out around. What I used to dread and avoid, I now look forward to. I LOVE coming to the gym. I LOVE working out. I have surprised myself so much along the way and have found an outlet where I can focus on myself and clear my mind amidst the chaos of family and work.

It hasn't been a cakewalk, but with the support of my husband, kids, family, friends, coworkers and the trainers at His & Her Fitness, I have DONE it. I have committed. I am so grateful to the team for all of their help. I am proud of where I am in my journey, but I know I am not done.

I would just like to start this by saying that I am very grateful for this opportunity. Four years ago when Christina and I met and after having quite an extensive conversation we connected and I knew that we shared same of the same view points, but the timing was not right. Now fast forwarding things have shifted and now the timing is perfect.
My wife is very supportive, especially with raising a three-month-old little boy, and the challenges of being new parents, but as long as we keep communicating things always work itself out. My wife and I enjoy food, but finding food that is delicious, but still healthy is very hard. So being able to have tons of options on the website here at His and Her Fitness is extremely awesome!
My team members Monica, Zoie and Mo are trainers light years behind their time. I'm grateful that I have the ability to learn from them and grow from their experiences. After getting a sports rehabilitation degree, being a former collegiate athlete and working in a verity of different setting within healthcare it's refreshing to be able to have a boss that believes in her team and shows it by her example. She also encourages us the way we need it, not necessarily the way we want it, but that's what will make us better people over all that makes her a more effective leader. The part that I love the most about what I do is being able to get to know my clients and seeing them absolutely destroying their fitness and life goals. It's the best feeling ever knowing that the fitness program that you designed is helping others live a healthier life one day at a time.
