Appreciation
Mazel tov to Joey and the entire Foosaner family on Joey's becoming a bar mitzvah and leading services so skillfully this past Shabbat.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Rosh Hashanah honey fundraiser!
Thank you to everyone who came out to our apple picking event on Sunday. About 50 members and friends braved the heat to gather delicious apples at Mackintosh Fruit Farm. Judging by the buckets overflowing with apples that I saw coming back from the orchard, I'm willing to wager there were a few pre-Rosh Hashanah apple pies baked this week! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more great pics from the day! Thanks to Felicia Schwartz and Rachel Neuschaefer, our Membership Co-Chairs for organizing the event!

Thank you to everyone who has helped with the preparations for the High Holy Days. Some highlights from this week: Thanks to Pam Hemstreet and Sam and Spencer Kalke for switching over the prayer books in the Sanctuary. Thanks to Melissa Pukatch, Marci Portal, and Sandy Winter for bringing an extra sparkle to the Days of Awe by polishing the silver!
There are so many details big and small that go into making the holidays special, thank you to everyone who takes part in making it all happen!

We look forward to seeing you throughout the course of the High Holidays at Sha'are Shalom. A few reminders:
- As started last year, in an effort to conserve resources, physical tickets will not be mailed. All members, as well as guests who have arranged to join us for the holidays, will be listed on the ticket holders list at the greeters table. Simply stop by on your way in to say hello and check in.
- As during regular Shabbat services, we ask that all electronics be kept silent and out of sight on the premises throughout the High Holy Days services.
- Overflow parking is in the Heritage High School parking lot. Police will be on-site to help with traffic control and help everyone get across the street safely.
- Please reserve the last several rows of the sanctuary for those with mobility concerns and their companions.
- If you have any questions or require assistance, please reach out to our greeters at the entrance, our ushers in the sanctuary, or our Board members who will have name tags identifying themselves.
Thank you for spending the holidays with us! We wish you and yours a sweet and good new year. Shanah tovah!

Siddur Series
Siddur Series I: Understanding the Shabbat Morning Service
Sundays, 9:00am - 10:30am
October 27, November 10 and 17
This short series explores the content of the three main parts of the Shabbat morning service. We will look at the Morning (Shaharit), Torah Reading, and Musaf (Additional) and closing prayers. Each session is devoted to one section of the prayer book. The major themes of the prayers will be presented along with essential details on “how-to-do-what-when”. This course is perfect for anyone looking to have a basic handle on what happens during the course of Shabbat morning services. It is especially encouraged for parents (and even grandparents!) anticipating bat/bar mitzvah celebrations. Our main text will be
Siddur Sim Shalom for Sabbath and Festivals
and additional handouts will be provided as needed. No knowledge of Hebrew is anticipated. There is no fee for this class.
