Student Spotlight

"I am without vision but not without a vision. I am without physical sight but not without insight. Look into my eyes, and you see a different kind of light. I am lacking in eyesight but not in mindsight. I journey without a lantern but I am led by the light of God. I am guided by a vision stronger than physical sight, a vision that is etched in my mind, a flame burning in my spirit - the vision of my vocation."

-- Kelsi Watters is a Master's of Divinity candidate and reflects on vision and blindness in "Vision as Guiding Light"

Faculty Publication

Professor Charles Bobertz' The Gospel of Mark is now available by Baker Publishing Group!

Bobertz comments, "It was such a thrill to write this book. For years I have been convinced that the importance of the ritual practices of the earliest Christians has been underestimated by biblical scholars. This book is a small step toward highlighting the importance of liturgy, primarily the rituals of Baptism and Lord's Supper, in the study of Gospel narratives."...

Alumni Highlight

Reverend Tony Romaine, M.A.'13, used to have big plans for what he would do with his education from Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary (SOT/Sem). He pictured a life as a military chaplain and contemplated becoming a professor.

It wasn't until the Holy Spirit reached him with what he describes as his "when" moment that Tony realized something-God would make clear his path when he was ready to get out of the way and let God be God. Today, he's an ordained reverend in the United Church of Christ (UCC) in Staples, Minnesota.

Summer Courses

We are happy to announce a new summer course format. Continue your own or encourage another's education at Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary this summer. Each week will inspire learners to seek truth and wisdom through prayer, academic endeavors, social activities, and ministry experiences in Collegeville. Our new format provides a flexibility to welcome all to experience Collegeville first hand.

Lent Reflection Series

Reflect and pray with the SOT/Sem this Lent.  Sign up to receive free weekly reflections delivered right to your inbox. Reflections are written by current graduate students and include a link to the Readings of the Day, delivered on Sunday mornings.
