Berlin Mayor Gee Williams spoke to the Democratic Women's Club of Worcester County about environmental issues affecting Berlin and Worcester County at the club's September meeting. Shown (left to right) are Harriet Batis, DWC co-vice president; Mayor Williams and Vicky Wallace, DWC president. The DWC meets the third Monday of the month at the Ocean Pines Community Center at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and conversation; the meeting begins at 10 a.m. The next meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 21.

Now Through September 30 - The Parke Community Garage Sale Registration
The Parke community's fall garage sale will be held on Saturday, October 5 from 7:30 a.m.-noon with a rain date planned for Sunday, October 6. To participate, registration is required at the Clubhouse. A $1 fee is required to cover the cost of maps and signs posted throughout the community. The Parke HOA rules state that anyone moving in or out may conduct an individual garage sale. For all other residents, you may participate in the community's semi-annual garage sales. Residents of The Parke who would like to utilize Teen Challenge (a 501c3 organization) to carry away nearly new furniture or items without participating in the sale, please contact Diane.

September 25 - Worcester County Health Fair / 3-6 p.m.
This event, held at the Worcester County Recreation Center in Snow Hill, is free and open to the public. Visit with local health professionals and vendors who will provide information about mental, physical and spiritual health. September 28 - Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection / 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Household hazardous waste will be collected at Showell Elementary School on Racetrack Road. Items to be collected include computers and laptops (no other electronics will be accepted), gasoline, gas/oil mixtures, fuels, acids, cleaners, solvents, automotive fluids, bleach, ammonia, pool chemicals, pesticides, dark room supplies, CFL light bulbs, batteries, insecticides, herbicides, oil-based paints, thinners, turpentine, wood preservatives, wood strippers, etc. For more information, please contact Recycling Manager Mike McClung at 410-632-3177 ext. 2405 or mmcclung@co.worcester.md.us.

September 29 - Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra / 3 p.m.
The first performance of the 2019-2020 season, "From Movie Themes to Classics," will be held at the Ocean City Convention Center. It will feature "Mission Impossible Variations," "Mandolin Concerto" (with guest artist Vincent Beer-Demander) and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 7." September 30 - Delmarva Chorus Guest Night / 7-9 p.m.
The Delmarva Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, invites women of all ages to attend the Guest Night/Membership Drive at the Ocean Pines Community Center. Spend an evening singing and meeting new friends. Homemade refreshments will be served. The Delmarva Chorus is an extraordinary group of women who gather together in celebration of the American art form known as acapella singing in the barbershop style of harmony. Worcester County Judge Cheryl Jacobs will discus the functions of the Orphan's Court and the general division of the court system at this monthly meeting at the Ocean Pines Community Center. October 12 - Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast / 8-11 a.m.
The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City will serve a traditional pancake breakfast at the Ocean Pines Community Center. $7 adults, $3 children ages 5-12, free for children under 5. Proceeds benefit the youth of our community.

October 12 - Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department Truck Raffle Drawing

October 17 - Ocean Pines Boat Club Harrington Casino Bus Trip / 10 a.m.

October 21 - 11th Annual Patriot Day Fashion Show Luncheon / 10:30 a.m.
Hosted by the Republican Women of Worcester County, this year's luncheon will honor "Women Who Changed the World" at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel in Ocean City. Fashions provided by "The Dressing Room" in Salisbury. Local vendors, mystery envelopes, lucky surprise boxes and more. $35 per person. November 2 - Winter Wonderland Holiday Artisan and Craft Fair / 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
This festival, hosted by the Pine'eer Craft Club, features local and regional artisans selling handcrafted items. Homemade goodies, including cookies, cakes, candy and breads, will also be for sale at reasonable prices, and the Kiwanis will serve breakfast and lunch items.

November 7 - Women's Club of Ocean Pines Game Party Fundraiser / 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

November 10 - Polish Club 20th Anniversary Celebration & Veterans Day Memorial / 1-5 p.m.
