Spirituality With A View
Greetings!

During the weekend Masses on September 21 and 22, I spoke about the problem we have here at St. Francis of Assisi. But it is a good problem. And, just like the shrewd steward in Luke's Gospel for last Sunday, we need to be wise and clever in solving this problem.

( For a refresher or i f you missed the homily, listen here ).

The reality is that we have been growing in both the number of ministries we currently have and the number of people who lead and participate in these ministries. Many of our Intentional Disciples have shared with me their concerns about not having enough physical space to provide meaningful programs within our ministries, especially for our students, youth, and Latino community.

We have been in a period of prayer and discernment for months and have developed a plan to expand the lower levels of our parish building to add 1900 square feet. Besides the building, this project will also include paving the overflow parking lot, an emergency generator, and enhanced security.

( For details, please watch this slide presentation that was shown at Mass ).

All registered parishioners will be receiving a letter from me this week with information about the project, and a pledge card. Please read the information carefully and prayerfully consider your financial commitment.

If you are not registered and would like to receive the letter, please e-mail your name and address to stewardship@sftahoe.org . If your mailing address has recently changed, please check with our office to be sure we have your correct information.

You have consistently shown your generosity with loving and giving hearts. I am ever grateful for your being open to God's call to sacrifice yourself to support the on-going ministries of our beloved parish.
God bless you,
P.S. Please read below for activities that our ministries are sponsoring in October for Respect Life month and the Feast of St. Francis. If you missed last month's message with an update on our Faith Formation Ministries, you can read it here.

OUR PARISH COMMUNITY CAN PRAY!
Annual
BLESSING of the ANIMALS
at the 9 am Mass on September 29, 2019
Please bring your pets to our gathering
area by 8:45 am for our processional.

Well-behaved animals are welcome
to stay with you during Mass.

In honor of our patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi,
we are collecting
new or gently used
(and clean)
blankets, comforters,
and quilts
to distribute to the
less fortunate and homeless this winter.
Please bring your blankets to the Mass you attend during the weekend of October 5-6 and place them on the designated table in the Gathering Area.

PLEASE DO NOT bring them to church PRIOR to that weekend as we do not have storage space for them.

The blankets will be blessed and taken to Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada in Reno on October 7th for distribution. This project is being done in conjunction with Respect Life Month. It is a way that the parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi can emulate our patron saint and give thanks to Our Lord for our many blessings.
