Holy Family Early Learning Center Blessing
On September 5th, Holy Family ELC was blessed by Bishop James D. Conley. Donors, families, volunteers and staff were on hand to witness the blessing, followed by an open house and reception.

Holy Family ELC is a Nebraska licensed Early Learning Center for children aged six months through preschool. The Center officially opened August 1 with 43 children enrolled. There was an urgent need for care, especially infant care. Holy
Family has a full infant room with 10 more on the waiting list.

Academics

"Are you square?"
No, they aren't being rude. Sixth graders are learning the seven steps of the Scientific method. Students measured to see if they are taller than their arm span (tall), the same (square), or is the arm span more than their height (wide)?

Microscopes Rule
During the first few days of school, Middle School Students were given a layout of Mrs. Mayo's Science Labs. In learning about how to properly use a microscope, eighth grader Jacob Moravec (right) was able to see science up close.
We've got fire!
Mr. Roy Emory demonstrated fire during Chemistry.

Athletics
Cross Country Goes the Distance
Coach Svec is leading a smaller group of runners this year, but numbers aren't holding them back. The boys team placed first in the East Butler Invite on Aug. 29. Individual placers: Payton Davis 1st, Peter Sisco 4th, Will Eller 5th, Xavier Fiala 8th, and Jake Witter 14th. Girls individual placers: Jocelyn Stara 5th & Ella Moravec 7th.
Volleyball Tough
Coach Pelan and the Lady Monarchs dropped to Class C-2 this year, into some fierce competition.

Dancing Softball
The Lady Monarch Softball is in full swing. They have faced some tough teams and have a record of 2-4 to start the season. Two of those losses were tight games and loosing only by one run. The rain has played some havoc with games but a rain delay won't hold these girls spirits down. At the GACC Invite the four teams danced during a rain delay! See these talented girls here.
Football Battles
The Monarchs lost their season opener versus Columbus Scotus with a 19-27 finish. The following week they hosted Norfolk Catholic with a 14-3 win. This game was part of the statewide "Safety in Athletics begins with having an Athletic Trainer" . Learn more about this campaign here.

Coach Mimick: Historic 300th Win

The Monarchs defeated Ponca handily in a 49-6 finish on Friday, Sept. 20th. This game was something special for Head Coach Ron Mimick, his 300th career win.

The Lincoln Journal Star asked Coach Mimick:

"What do 300 victories mean?"

In true Coach Mimick fashion, his response,

"It means I've been coaching a long time with a lot of good kids."

Coach Mimick is currently coaching in this 30th year at Aquinas Catholic. His past coaching stops were at Stuart, Parkson, SD, Hasting St. Cecilia, and Hardington Cedar Catholic. He has coached two State Runner-Up teams and seven, yes count that seven, State Championships.

Congratulations, Coach Mimick.
