ACHP is proud to announce a new partnership with the International Restoration Institute. IRI
is dedicated to educating, training and assisting contractors and handyman professional on helping victims of storms, fires, mold and floods. IRI's Restoration and Remediation Certification Courses have been used in the restoration industry for over 10 years. The Restoration courses offered are all online and there are free student advisement offerings at no charge. Check out the courses at

Insurance Updates
Lockton has added an easy "pay my bill" link for easy insurance policy renewals. "Participants of our insurance program will still receive their yearly invoices however, we made it easier for members to renew their insurance policy invoices online" says Asst VP, Joe Perkins of Lockton.

4 Ways to Build Your Handyman Reputation in Person
Every skilled handyman has to start his business somewhere. If you are trying to build a relationship with your customers, you are doing the right thing. There are several actions you can take to get to know your customers and make a name for yourself when you talk to people every day. Take a look at these four ways to build your handyman reputation in person.
Offer coupons.
Coupons can help you attract new customers, and can generate return visits too. Research shows that people go out of their way to use a coupon, which makes offering coupons an effective way to gain customers and business, and build your reputation. There's a high probability that once you meet a customer and show your talent and professionalism, they will come back to you for future business.
Display yard signs.
This is a great way to promote your business when you are working on a property. Ask your customers if you can leave a sign in their yard for a few days. Make the sign noticeable -- it should be a few feet wide and tall so people driving by see it. Include the name of your business and your contact information clearly so people can easily read it and take a quick photo or jot down your phone number.
Hand out printed materials.
Design printed materials such as business cards, postcards, fliers, brochures, and even inexpensive giveaways. Make sure you include your business contact information on your materials, including your name, telephone number, email address, and website. You can add your social media sites, too. Give materials to your friends, family, other non-competitive business owners, or leave them in approved public places. People are always looking for a skilled and trustworthy handyman business.
Make the most of social and religious organizations.
Social and religious organizations present the perfect opportunities to advertise your business. Word of mouth and print advertising in these situations are a great way to spread word about your services. These events give you an open chance to talk with others about your business.
These four ways to build your handyman business can help you build stronger relationships, engage your customers, and keep your brand in the forefront of customer's minds. For little money and some time and effort, you can really build your reputation and grow your business.

Are your Customers Able to Find You?

Our search requests continue to increase significantly. The new search engine installed in August was indeed what the doctor ordered. This means more and more folks are browsing our directory listings. However, many of you have not updated your listing in a while. In some cases, customers are having difficulties reaching you because of outdated information in your listing. How do we know this? Some of them are calling ACHP. Makes us wonder how many customers are reluctant to go the extra mile thus contacting someone else with a working or displayed phone number, etc.
To fix this problem:
Log in to your member account and:
- Ensure you have access, if not contact us immediately.
- Click on "My Directory Listings" then "Edit". Ensure your information is up to date.
- Enter a city, state, zip code in the display map. If not, the search engine will not be able to find you by zip code search.

Ensure your email and phone number is correct, etc. Add more unique keywords.
