The New Mexico State Bar Foundation announces its brand new "How to Practice" series, providing practitioners with hands-on basic skills they can use right away. Attendees will receive an overview of substantive law, hands-on training (including sample forms) and ethics/professionalism. Mark your calendars for Adult Guardianship (Feb. 2), Probate and Non-probate Transfers will be held on (March 23) and Civil Litigation (May 4). Watch for Family Law later in the year. YLD Seeks Volunteers for Homeless Legal Clinic in Albuquerque 
Volunteer attorneys are needed to staff the Homeless Legal Clinic on Jan. 18, from 9-11 a.m. (orientation at 8:30 a.m.), at Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless. To find out how you can serve, contact YLD Region 2 Director Kaitlyn Luck 

Board of Bar Commissioners Vacancy
A vacancy exists in the Third Bar Commissioner District, representing Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties. Active status members with a principal place of practice located in the Third Bar Commissioner District are eligible to apply. View the requirements. Mark Rudd Opens Spring Solo and Small Firm Monthly Speaker Series 
Former UNM and CNM associate professor Mark Rudd, who has been organizing fifty years for social justice, will address "Life in the Second Gilded Age" from noon-1 p.m., Jan. 16, at the State Bar Center. The presentation is open to all and lunch will be provided with R.S.V.P.
Volunteers Needed for Rio Rancho Wills for Heroes
The YLD is seeking volunteer attorneys, paralegal volunteers and law students to help provide free wills for its Wills for Heroes event for Rio Rancho first-responders from 9 a.m.-noon, Feb. 24, at Loma Colorado Main Library, in Rio Rancho. Volunteers should arrive at 8:15 a.m. for breakfast and orientation.  Click here to volunteer.
Equal Justice Conference Attendance Financial Assistance Available
The Legal Services and Programs Committee has made available three $1,000 stipends to provide financial assistance to individuals interested in attending the 2018 Equal Justice Conference on May 10-12 in San Diego.
