The LoCastro Report
September 30, 2019

Welcome to the inaugural issue of The LoCastro Report!

I’ll be keeping in touch so you have all the latest news from the campaign trail. Be on the lookout for updates on recent events, my take on the issues facing Collier County, and ways you can be involved.

If the turnout at our recent launch event at the Lely Players Club in East Naples is any indication, we are off to a strong start! A massive, standing-room-only, patriotic gathering of friends, supporters, and Collier County business and government leaders helped kick off our campaign for County Commission in a big way. I’m so thankful for all who attended and all who are encouraging me and investing in our campaign.
This race to ensure we continue to have experienced and seasoned leadership in the District 1 seat following Commissioner Fiala’s 20 years of dedicated service will be a long one. As I campaign full-time in District 1 and all over Collier County, I will work hard to earn and keep your trust. Our successful launch event was just the beginning of working for the good of our community.

Here are a few recent highlights from the campaign trail.
We all have a role to play in preserving and protecting our environment. Dr. Mohamed Dabees and Linda Colombo from Friends of Tigertail Beach gave a very informative presentation concerning changes to Tigertail Lagoon and Sand Dollar Island. It is imperative that we work together to maintain and restore our shoreline and beaches.
I attended the Collier County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study meeting hosted by the Army Corps of Engineers, which is one year into a three-year study to determine our most vulnerable areas. The study is entirely funded by the federal government and will recommend solutions to mitigate flood damage from future storms. I worked closely with the Army Corps during my military career and will be closely monitoring their efforts.
It was an honor being appointed to Senator Rick Scott’s Service Academy Nomination Panel in Orlando. What a privilege to interview Florida finalists for the Senator’s nominations to my alma mater, the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The partnership between the City of Marco Island and Collier County is absolutely vital. It was great to meet new Police chief Tracy Frazzano and visit with city council members following the Marco Island City Council meeting, which featured informative discussions about stormwater, landscaping and beautification, and beach restoration.
I was honored to give the invocation at the recent Women’s Republican Club of Naples meeting. Guest speaker Amira Fox , State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit, was impressive and covered a multitude of legal topics. Many thanks to Mary Waller and all the club members for inviting me!
I had a very informative meeting with Melissa Phillips , Immokalee Foundation Vice President of Philanthropy. Her organization is changing the course of children’s lives. It's critical for a Commissioner to know ALL areas of our County regardless of the District.
Last but certainly not least, National Daughters Day was last week, and I’m so proud of my amazing daughter, Gina , who is in her junior year at Troy University studying to be an elementary school teacher!
