Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Cloverdale Students Experience Authentic Learning Opportunity with Adopt-a-Highway
This morning (thankfully before the rain), Cloverdale School 5th graders in Mrs. Aigner's class spent time beautifying school grounds and nearby areas along Merbach Drive as the class participated in the Village of Carol Stream's Adopt-a-Highway program. Each of the school's 5th grade classes will take a date throughout the school year to ensure the road is clean and clear of debris. The event tied in with the grade level's broader lessons on volunteerism, positive citizenship, and taking care of the community.
It also reinforced crucial 21st century skills and abilities, like environmental literacy and global awareness, as well as a commitment to best practices in sustainability. The experiences and lessons learned align directly to CCSD93's Strategic Plan Goals of A Relevant Education for All Students and Optimal Learning Environments.

Parents Invited to Schedule Student-Led Conferences Starting 10/4
After successful implementation last year, once again this year Parent/Teacher Conferences across CCSD93 will take the form of Student-Led Conferences. Students are expected to attend with their parents, and part of the Conference will involve students identifying strengths and setting learning goals. Research has shown that Student-Led Conferences benefit students by
  • creating authentic experiences for students to utilize and improve upon organizational and communication skills,
  • enabling students to take greater responsibility and accountability for their learning experiences,
  • illustrating the academic supports and expectations in place by their parents and teachers, and
  • helping students better understand their skills and areas for improvement.
Student-Led Conferences will be held Monday and Tuesday, November 25 and 26. Parents are once again asked to use PTC Wizard, an online scheduling tool, to set up Conferences. You can schedule Conferences with PTC Wizard between Friday, October 4 at noon and Friday, November 22 at noon. All parents will need to register a new account this year, even if you had one for school year. While you can't schedule until October 4, you can register your new account at any time. To register and eventually schedule your conferences, visit www.ccsd93.com/ptc .

District Leadership Team Considers Parent, Staff & Administrator Perspectives in District Decisions
CCSD93 convenes a District Leadership Team (DLT) four times each year to discuss key areas of importance within the district. The DLT is made up of a parent, staff member, and principal from each CCSD93 school as well as district School Board members and administrators. DLT meetings enable CCSD93 leaders to consider the varying perspectives of, and share important updates with, its members.

Two years ago, the DLT assisted in the development of CCSD93's 2018-23 Strategic Plan, and at its most recent meeting on September 24, the DLT created lists of strengths and opportunities for improvement from the start of the 2019-20 school year, received an update on the Strategic Plan, and began to consider what CCSD93's 2020-21 school calendar will look like. CCSD93 is grateful to its DLT members for providing their unique thoughts and points of view to help the district make informed decisions.
