St. Michael's Academy
 :

Sunday we welcome Bishop Mitch for our 10th Anniversary Mass, which coincidentally also happens to be the Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel (and St. Gabriel and St. Rafael). It's looking like we're going to have a full church, with many, many families attending (thank you!!!!) as well as parishioners and invited guests. I would respectfully ask our families to park off campus on the surrounding streets (please don't block any driveways....) and leave the parking lot available for our older attendees. My second request is that you arrive by 10:45am (I know, that's a big one). Our students have something planned, and you won't want to miss it!   Immediately following the Mass, we'll have a reception in the gymnasium with some light refreshments. If you are able to bake for this, we would be very grateful. The classrooms will also be open, in case your child (especially those little ones) would like to give you a quick look.

The Walk-a-thon today was beautiful! You couldn't ask for better weather, the students and teachers were in good form and the volunteers made it all happen! Thank you! Now we just have to wait to see how the fundraiser part turns out. As I've told the students, the walk is the fun part, raising money, not so much! But you need to meet both goals to really have a successful event. So, if you haven't sent in your money yet, needless to say, we'll still accept it on Monday!

Finally, the first quarter progress reports went home today. Please take time this weekend to review them with your children. Begin by recognizing the strong areas and then help them to strategize ways to improve in struggling areas. The children need to do the work, but they need your support and encouragement. As we all know, it's not easy leaving the lazy days of summer behind and getting back into the rigor of the academic year...

Oh, and the first quarter progress report for attendance...97.5%
And for tardies...2.9%
And for early dismissals...1.4%
Not a bad start, but let's see if we can do as well (or better) when we come to the end of the first quarter.

Hope to see you on Sunday!

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Principal

From the Office of Mrs. Croteau - Academic Support

Advancing Academic Excellence

Welcome back to school! My name is Mrs. Allison Croteau. I am happy to be working at Saint Micheal's Academy for my third year.

This year, I am working with teachers and students in grades 1-8 to provide extra support to students in any needed content areas. Alongside the classroom teachers, I will work to advance academic excellence by providing the necessary tools for student success. The school year is now in full swing and we have already accomplished so much! I am eager to continue working with students and I am looking forward to a great year!

Walk-a-thon

What A Great Day!

It was the perfect day and sneakers were tearing up the pavement as St. Michael's Academy held its annual Walk-a-thon!  Many thanks to all the parents who volunteered to help!

 Middle Level Dance

Dancing The Night Away

The middle level students held their first dance this week.  You can tell by these photos that it was a great time!  Hats off to Student Council members for their hard work in concessions.

From The Nurse's Office

  A Changing Of The Guard

We are sad to announce that Mrs. Karen Pomeroy will be moving out of state and leaving St. Michael's Academy.  She will be missed by many.

But....we are happy to announce that Mrs. Maureen Penna will be joining the SMA team as the new nurse!  Nurse Karen has given her seal of approval and will begin training her on Monday. Rest assured Nurse Maureen will be updated on all of our students who have special needs and medications to be administered.

 Umbrellas

Don't Get Caught In The Rain!

There are a few SMA golf umbrellas left from last year if anyone would like to purchase one.  They have red and white panels with the SMA logo on one panel. The cost is $20. And these are golf umbrellas so they are a good size!

If you would like to purchase one, please let the main office know, email [email protected] or stop in to the Admissions Office on the 2nd floor.  We would be glad to help you!

Food For Thought

"We should take as a maxim never to be surprised at current difficulties, no more than at a passing breeze, because with a little patience we shall see them disappear. Time changes everything."
