Homecoming Week Modifications: September 27-28
Friday forecast for inclement weather moves football games to Saturday.

Lake Park Homecoming Week continues with a modified bell schedule today to host the all-school student assembly at West Campus.

As a reminder of this year's new procedure, public access will be restricted to the Homecoming assembly to allow security staff and school resource officers to be present in the gymnasium, assist with supervision duties, and monitor our facilities and perimeter. Therefore, parent participation is limited to viewing live streaming rather than attending the assembly as in past years.

Visit the Pep Rally website page on Friday afternoon to watch live starting at approximately 1:15 p.m.

Saturday, September 28
Due to the forecast for inclement weather and thunderstorms expected on Friday night, the Lake Park versus St. Charles North Sophomore and Varsity Football games scheduled for Friday, September 27 are rescheduled to Saturday according to the following schedule:
8:30 a.m. - Freshmen
10:30 a.m. - Sophomore
1:00 p.m. - Varsity (game will not start before 1:00 p.m.)

Regrettably, due to the rescheduled games, Lake Park will not hold Homecoming Activities during the varsity pre-game or half time

Lake Park High School's annual homecoming dance will be hosted at West Campus on Saturday, September 28 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

ALL students attending the Lake Park homecoming dance tomorrow night must have an ID card to enter. If your student has not yet purchased a ticket for the dance, tickets are available at the door for $25. If your student is bringing a non-Lake Park High School guest to the dance, the guest must have already purchased a ticket during pre-sales and completed the appropriate form. Students will not be able to bring a non-Lake Park High School guest to purchase tickets at the door.  Visit the Homecoming website for more information.
AP Exam Registration and Payment Deadline Approaching
Register for AP College Board exams by October 1 deadline.

The College Board has implemented a new Advanced Placement (AP) exam registration process for the 2019-20 school year. Students are required to register for exams via their My AP accounts on the College Board website. The deadline for exam registration is Tuesday, October 1.

Families will also need to access the Lake Park AP Payment Portal to pay for the AP exams. Students who paid online last year will be able to log in again using the same email address and password. Families using the payment portal for the first time can create an account. Payment for AP exams is also due Tuesday, October 1.

For those who prefer to pay by check, students can bring the check to the main office at either campus. Checks should be made payable to Lake Park High School, and include your student's ID number in the memo line. The College Board fee for each AP exam is $94.00. Families may request financial assistance to cover a portion of the exam fee. Parents seeking financial assistance should complete the AP Exam Scholarship Request form and return it to the main office at either campus.

Children's Show Takes the Stage
Free performances offered for schools and the community.

The 2019-20 drama season continues with Miss Nelson is Missing by Jeffrey Hatcher, based on the book by Harry Allard and James Marshall.

In addition to four performances for local elementary and middle schools, the cast will perform on Thursday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lake Park East Campus Dice Auditorium. Admission is free; tickets are available at the door. Contact [email protected] or (630) 295-5313 for more info.

Miss Nelson can't control her crazy classroom because she's just too nice. But when she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp! With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they'll do anything -- including hiring a private eye -- to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.

The leading characters are Miss Nelson/Miss Viola Swamp performed by Abigael Manning (11); Principal Humleker by Gabrielle Mintrup (11); Detective McSmogg by Graham Paisley (12); Kimberly by Gianna Failla (10); Raymond by Kyle Freeman (9); Lavita by Elise Fulmer (11); Phoebe by Rylee Fulmer (10); Elvis by Franco Gattuso (9); Morris by Roan Griffin (10); and George by Brett Tobler (10). Break a leg!
PSAT/NMSQT Testing for Juniors on October 16
East Campus will have a SMART day; non-attendance day for seniors.

On Wednesday, October 16, all Lake Park High School juniors from the Class of 2021 will take the PSAT/NMSQT exam at West Campus. This is a required attendance day for all juniors,  and students must be present in order to receive a score. The College Board does not allow for a make-up PSAT/NMSQT due to absence.

On this date, senior students from the Class of 2020 will not attend school. East Campus students will operate on a SMART day schedule.

This exam is a practice test in preparation for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) in April 2020; however, it's also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students who receive excellent scores on this test have the opportunity to earn prestigious status as National Merit Scholars.

On test day, students should arrive by 7:15 a.m. and bring a current photo ID, two #2 pencils and an approved calculator. Morning buses will follow their normal route times, and will return students home upon the completion of testing at approximately 11:30 a.m.

To help prepare for this exam, students in their English classes received an official PSAT/NMSQT student guide, which provides testing strategies and a list of approved calculators. Please encourage your student to take the practice test included in the student guide prior to October 16. Additional test prep resources are also available online.
