Celebrating the Centenary of
Gianna Gobbi
with 100 Days of Joy!
Count Down - Day 15
Today, Sunday, December 1, 2019 day 15 in our countdown of 100 days leading to the celebration of Gianna Gobbi's Centenary.

Each Sunday during this countdown, we are introducing the theme for the week. This week's theme is "The Relation between the Child's Work and Cosmic Work"

Today we share from Gianna Gobbi's book Listening to God with Children, page 114-115:
"When children have the possibility of a freely-chosen work which allows them the opportunity to explore and discover things in detail and the secrets they hold, the children are drawn to the educational environment as the bee is drawn to the flower. Then the force of spontaneous work is manifested as a spontaneous response . . . Unlike the adult, the child is not interested in utilizing his or her energies for maximum results. High efficiency is not an issue for the child. Rather the child works more for the pleasure of the work itself. He or she works largely without the need of praise or recognition and in an orderly way, often refusing the help of the adult. Indeed, the child will often say, ‘I want to do it myself.’ Normalization is a response to the inner laws which God has placed at the base of ‘Life.’ Moreover, work becomes a kind of ‘reorganizer’ of the personality. Not only does work assist the building of the person, it can also be a critical means of rebuilding and reordering the person through reconnecting him or her with those ‘inner laws .”

Read more about Gianna in this new Commemorative Journal
This special Commemorative Journal allows Gianna Gobbi’s voice and spirit to remind us of the beauty, value, and gift of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and how we as adults must behold, must “see” the child before us, allowing for their contemplation of and enjoyment in the presence of God.
