Confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch begin on March 20. Get ready for a fight!
Many Senate Democrats are already threatening to filibuster.
The key for us to remember is that the more difficult the fight to replace Scalia is, the more difficult it will be down the road to replace a pro-abortion justice with a pro-life justice. And that is when we really have the chance to make a long-term difference for life on the Supreme Court. So, we need to confirm Gorsuch, and make it smooth in the process.
Thankfully, both our Senators are committed to supporting Gorsuch! But is our work done? NO!
We can help by reaching our friends and family in other states and encouraging them to contact their U.S. Senators by email and phone. The time to do so is now!
Here is a hot list of states you may want to focus on:
North Dakota, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Montana, West Virginia, Florida, Ohio, & Wisconsin.
These states represent the homes of certain Democrat Senators that could be persuaded to vote for Gorsuch. After all, these states all voted for President Trump. And Trump campaigned on his promise to put Scalia-like justices on the court. It seems like the will of the people of these states to put Gorsuch on the bench, right?

Where Do the Candidates Stand
on Life Issues?
Special elections are set this spring for three vacant House seats and one vacant Senate seat.
On March 25, elections will be held for the House of Representative seats in District 8, District 42, and District 92. On April 29, an election will be held for the District 2 Senate seat.
Candidates in each of the House races were asked to complete Louisiana Right to Life's Legislative Questionnaire. Senate candidates will be asked to do so once qualifying ends (March 15-17).
Early voting for the March 25 election is March 11-18 (except Sunday and holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. If necessary, run offs will be held April 29.
The Senate District 2 seat was vacated last month when Sen. Troy Brown of Napoleonville resigned. If a runoff is necessary in that race, the election will be held May 27.
Early voting for the May 27 election is
April 15- 22 (except Sunday and holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

St. Tammany Pro-Life Oratory Contest Soon
St. Tammany Parish's pro-life oratory contest for high school juniors and seniors is scheduled for this month.
The event is March 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell.
Oratory contest winners advance to the state oratory contest and compete for cash prizes and a chance to compete nationally at the National Right to Life Convention in the summer.

of Roe v. Wade Decision Became a Pro-Life Advocate
Norma McCorvey, known as" Jane Roe" in the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion, passed away on Feb. 18 at an assisted living center in Katy, Texas. She was 69 years old.
The interesting thing for Louisiana is that Norma was born about 50 miles southeast of Alexandria in the small town of Simmesport in Avoyelles Parish on Sept. 22, 1947. She lived there during her childhood before moving to Texas.
McCorvey spent the last half of her life as a pro-life activist, trying to right the terrible wrong of the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions legalizing abortion. In fact, t
he Central Louisiana native returned to speak at a pro-life event in Alexandria in 2003.
Sadly, Norma was used by pro-abortion attorneys to accomplish their mission of legalizing abortion. She shared this herself in the most dramatic way.
On Jan. 21, 1998, McCorvey testified before the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, Federalism and Property Rights and told the true story behind Roe v. Wade. Following is a portion of that testimony:
Good morning. My name is Norma McCorvey. I'm sorry to admit that I'm the Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade.
The affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court didn't happen the way I said it did, pure and simple. I lied! Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffey needed an extreme case to make their client look pitiable. Rape seemed to be the ticket. What made rape even worse? A gang rape! It all started out as a little lie, but my little lie grew and became more horrible with each telling.
Not only did I lie, but I was lied to. I did not come to the Supreme Court on behalf of a class of women. I wasn't pursuing any legal remedy for my unwanted pregnancy. I did not go to the federal courts for relief. I met with Sarah Weddington to find out how I could obtain an abortion. She and Linda Coffey said they didn't know where to get one. Sarah already had an abortion, but she lied to me just like I lied to her! She knew where to get one, obviously, but I was of no use to her unless I was pregnant.
Sarah and Linda were looking for somebody, anybody, to use to further their own agenda. I was their most willing dupe....
Here's the truth of what I saw in the abortion industry.
I saw procedure rooms where sanitation and hygiene were after-thoughts. I worked with a doctor who operated on women while he was barefoot. I've worked in the clinics where drug use was rampant among clinic workers. I've had a doctor ask me to lie about the age of a fetus so he could charge more money for an abortion. One foreign-born doctor's entire line of so-called counseling went like this: "You want an abortion, I give you abortion."
But the most terrible of all, I saw women who were emotionally and physically scarred by their visit to an abortion clinic. They often came asking us if it was a baby, and more often than not, they were lied to and told no. "It's a product of conception," we'd say, or "it's just a few missed periods, that's all." ...
I felt terrible.... It was my pseudonym, Jane Roe, which had been used to create the "right" to abortion out of legal thin air....

Spend Time at the Capitol With Your Lawmakers, Then Attend Bowties for Babies!
May 11 will be a day of pro-life activities in Baton Rouge, and we hope you will make plans to join us!
The day will begin with
Pro-Life Day at the Capitol. Details are not available yet, but we urge you to mark your calendar and plan to spend time with us as well as your legislators talking about pro-life issues in Louisiana.
Then we hope you will stay and join us at the fifth annual
Bowties for Babies: A Southern Style Soiree Benefiting Life. The event will be held that evening at the Capitol Park Museum, located right across the street from the state Capitol.
The soiree, being chaired this year by Charlie and Ellen Davis and Jeff and Bridget Dunbar, will feature live music, good food, and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit Louisiana Right to Life's Advertise for Life project, which uses online advertising to connect abortion-minded women and men to one of the state's pregnancy resource centers that can help them choose life.
