Nannette Oatley Johnson
Author - Motivational Speaker
About Nannette Oatley Johnson
MA, LPC, is a Wife, Mother, Nana, Author, Speaker, Chaplain, Life Coach and the 2001 U.S. Open Wheelchair Tennis Singles and Doubles Champion.
For over thirty-five years, Nannette’s life has been a living testimony to the power of resilience. She was a former gymnast, dance choreographer, and amateur actress until a broken neck altered her life in 1982. Following her injury, she married and gave birth to three children within three years. In 1989, when her children were five, three-and-a-half and two, she began a single-parent career that encompassed nine years. During that time she completed a B.A. in counseling psychology and then an M.A. in counseling and human services.
Chamber Discounts: For just $38 I would love to send you a personalized autographed copy of my book, 'Pain, Power & Promise: 19 Ways to Turn Setbacks into Comebacks', and a pack of 12 Hope, Healing and Inspirational Cards, created by myself and local artist, Carolyn Rodriguez.

The James Family Heart Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) has reached another milestone. The Heart Center recently performed its first transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR)—an emerging and highly complex procedure.
“Very few heart centers in Arizona, the region or even nationwide have the advanced technology, medical expertise or state-of-the-art facilities necessary to perform TMVR,” said Soundos K. Moualla, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Interventional Cardiologist and Director, YRMC’s Structural Heart Program. “We are fortunate that YRMC’s Heart Center has all three components and we were prepared to offer this procedure to our patients.”
The TMVR was performed in YRMC’s Hybrid Operating Room, recognized as among the best in the nation. The following Heart Center experts – along with staff from the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiovascular Surgery – collaborated before, during and after the procedure:
- Soundos K. Moualla, MD, FACC, FSCAI
- Jose E. Torres, MD, FACS
- George Gellert, MD
- Saina Attaran, MD, MRCS, FRCS
- Daniel Beck, MD
- Gwen Rhodes, RN

Pet of the Week
"Fred"
Fred is a handsome, tricolor 6-year-old pitbull mix and he is a big ham. He loves attention and giving kisses to whoever stops by to visit him. He loves being around people and gets very excited when he ventures outside. Fred is house trained and needs a bit of training to be the best he can be while on a leash. Fred is energetic and is waiting for that right person to show him what a forever love and home feels like.
A note from Fred: “Hi Special Human! Although I haven’t seen you yet, I know that you are out there! I am a loyal boy full of a lot of love, and am an easy-going, smart goofball and I can’t wait to meet you. See you soon!”

Animal(s) of the Week
"Chipa & Chitabe"
Meet Chipa and Chitabe! Our spotted hyena dynamic duo at the park! The female hyena, Chipa came to Out of Africa at just 4 months of age, while our male Chitabe arrived at only 2 months. Unlike the negative Hollywood stereotype, Hyenas are quite intelligent and affectionate, and that affection extends to the caretakers who always make time to shower Chipa and Chitabe with their own affection and a good scratch or two, of course.
A note from Chipa & Chitabe: "Hello human friends. We love our caretakers who always make time to shower us in their affection with a scratchie or two! Unlike myself, Chitabe enjoys carrying sticks around. We both love swimming and can't wait to see you when we splash in the pool after Tiger Splash!
