In this month's Organizational Partner Spotlight Emily Bailin Wells interviewed Alice Bouvrie,the Promotions Team Lead on the Steering Committee for New Day Films.
New Day Films initially formed because the women's movement had arrived and a group of independent filmmakers couldn't find distribution for their feminist films. New Day sustains the ideas that inspired its formation in 1971 - collaboration, hope, and social change. "We met at the 1971 Flaherty Seminar, where some of our films were programmed," recalled founding member Amalie Rothschild. "I was in production with It Happens to Us. I'd been trying to get distribution for Woo Who? May Wilson. I'd take it to non-theatrical distribution companies, and they'd say 'It's wonderful, dear, we really like it - but there's no audience' ". Read the full interview here.

Applications for the Global Youth Advisory Council are now open! The Representation Project is looking for their next GYAC class.
This year, the Council will be made up of 20 amazing young people from the ages of 16 to 24, ready to organize their peers by facilitating a Global Youth Rep chapter on their campus or community. The deadline is March 15th.

- Cut in Half, written by 17 year old Leen Shumman and directed by Susan Seidelman is a story of a Muslim family coping with the Leukemia diagnosis of their eldest daughter.
- Split Persona, written by 17 year old Mayraleeh Nelson and directed by Bradley Rust Gray is about twin sisters as they deal with their fraying bond after their mother shows signs of depression.
