AJAS Member Community Receives Prestigious Research Grant

Hebrew SeniorLife and Brown University have received a coveted five-year, $53.4M grant from the National Institute of Aging to fund a collaborative research incubator aimed at improving care for people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias aand their caregivers.  
 
From Hebrew SeniorLife's perspective, this research can't come soon enough: Alzheimer's disease and other dementias are the sixth leading cause of death in America. More than five million Americans 65 or older are living with Alzheimer's today, and that number is projected to more than double by 2050.  
 
As an organization dedicated to helping seniors live their best lives, HSL has made a deep commitment to memory care, and research such as this will help HSL improve quality of care and quality of life for seniors with Alzheimer's disease as well as their caregivers and families.
 

AJAS Community Hosts Parkinson's Parade

On September 27, Jewish Home Family held a unique parade showcasing the ways people ware fighting back against Parkinson's disease. Several programs were featured to demonstrate practical and creative ways to thrive with the disorder and build community support.

On September 13, 2Life Communities held the official groundbreaking for its first building in Brookline, MA. The Harold and Ronald Brown Family House will offer 62 units of affordable housing for older adults.



Community Program Recognized for Quality
Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation

The Queens-Long Island Renal Institute (QLIRI) at Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation was recently honored with two quality recognition awards by Island Peer Review Organization End-Stage Renal Disease Network of New York. 
 
These prestigious awards represent programs from across the state that demonstrate excellence in best practices in response to a public health need. "The QLIRI team accomplished this wonderful goal very diligently to help support patient care," said Michael N. Rosenblut, QLIRI's President and CEO.


Menorah Manor Employees Obtain LeadingAge Florida Awards

LeadingAge Florida named two Menorah Manor employees as Executive of the Year and Employee of the Year at its annual conference.
 
Robert Goldstein, chief executive officer, received the Executive of the Year award. Errol Webley, dietary supervisor, was named Employee of the Year. The awards were presented at LeadingAge Florida's annual meeting.
 
The Executive of the Year award honors a CEO, executive director, administrator or manager who demonstrates the highest qualities of leadership, willingness to mentor others and innovation and significant contribution to the work of LeadingAge Florida. The Employee of the Year award honors an employee who exhibits extraordinary dedication, stellar customer service, and commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents of a LeadingAge Florida member community.
