The Children's Trust Announces
Trust Academy is One-Stop Shop for Live Event Training and Online Courses
Our Trust Academy Learning Management System (LMS) now holds all your learning needs! All the great courses and resources from Project RISE and The Advocacy Network on Disabilities are now hosted in Trust Academy LMS. This will be a one-stop shop for all future live event training and online courses given by these agencies, by UM COACH, by Training and Implementation Associates, and by The Children’s Trust. If your Trust-funded position was included in Trust Central by your Agency Admin, log in to Trust Central to access Trust Academy LMS using the Learning Management System (LMS) module. To see all online courses, follow the Trust Academy LMS Guide or just click Show Categories in the Course Catalog and start learning!

If you do not have access to Trust Central, see your Agency Admin to get started. For subcontractors, professional services, and ‘match’ positions, you can access the required online courses and live events by registering independently as explained in registration options 2-4 in the  Trust Academy LMS Guide.

The CollaborNation LMS sites for Project RISE and The Advocacy Network on Disabilities will no longer be available after October 4. Previous accounts from those sites will continue to be matched as accounts are created in Trust Central so trainings taken in the past will be available in new Trust Academy accounts.

An Administrator's Overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) *
Administrators, as well as site and program managers of Trust-funded programs directors will gain a working knowledge of an agency’s legal requirements under the ADA. Topics include eligibility for enrollment, reasonable accommodations, and policies and procedures. Opportunities for peer learning occurs through sharing experiences, raising questions, and problem-solving real life situations.

Online Trainings
Discovering Inclusion: For new staff, and/or those with little or no previous knowledge about youth with disabilities. This workshop introduces various types of disabilities, identifies the characteristics and benefits of an inclusive program, and provides information on using People First Language and respectful etiquette.

Introduction to Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Part 1: What is Autism Spectrum Disorder? Learn how to help children meet behavioral expectations, recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

Attention YAS Providers: Effective August 1, 2019, The Children's Trust will NOT reimburse for direct service costs occurred at any sites without an active DCF license. Please read carefully the non-payment policy and related form posted on our website. Education Program for Living with Family and Friends with Mental Illness *
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is offering a Family-to-Family Course for FREE starting in mid-October. The education program is for family, friends and significant others of individuals living with a mental health issue. The 12-session courses start October 15 and will be offered in Coral Gables and Miami.

Maternal Depression Awareness Workshop *
Postpartum Depression is the most common complication of childbirth, regularly unrecognized, nevertheless a devastating disorder. Studies estimate that at least 15% to 20% of women who give birth suffer from this condition. The Postpartum Healing and Education Center is holding a Maternal Depression Awareness Workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., October 30 at 6801 NW 186 Street, Miami. Attendees can receive 3 CEUs for LCSW, LMHC & LMFT. Tickets cost $40.

Oral Health Care Summit
The Miami-Dade Oral Health Network will host the 5th Oral Health Equity Summit on Tuesday, November 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Miami Dade College's Hialeah Campus. The summit will address the oral health needs of the community and support policies that increase oral health equity and access, bringing together community members, elected officials, and the region's leading experts in oral health advocacy. The summit will feature a varied program that includes a keynote speaker, a panel discussion, and an interactive advocacy session where participants will have multiple ways to practice oral health advocacy on the spot!

Family Engagement Specialist
United Way of Miami Dade is also looking for a Family Engagement Specialist who will be responsible for the development and implementation of enrollment systems, policies, and procedures to insure full and sustained enrollment of all children within the Grantee Services area. Education Requirements include a Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related area as well as experience with enrollment data gathering and analysis.

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. The position currently available supports our family services portfolio, hence graduate work and/or previous experience in parenting programs or family centered interventions is highly desired. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.
