Ways You Can Use Word of Mouth Marketing to Build Your Business
Every handyman professional wants to get his or her name out for all the right reasons. In fact, Nielson.com tells us that 92 percent of consumers trust referrals from people they know. Therefore, it's so important to do a great job and encourage your customers to share your name with their friends, family and neighbors. Look at these 4 ways you can use word of mouth marketing to help grow your handyman business.
Encourage your customers to spread the word
When you do a great job and get a glowing report from your customers, they will tell everyone. Make sure you are prompt, do high quality work, and live up to your customers' expectations every single time you do business with them. As a handyman, word-of-mouth marketing can really help build your business.
Make sure your business can be found online
Register your business on the Better Business Bureau and list it in the Yellow Pages to ensure prospective customers can find you. Customers will search these sites for reputable and professional handyman professionals when they are looking to hire help. Encourage your past customers to submit a helpful review that details their interaction with your business.
Display customer testimonials prominently
Ask your satisfied customers for testimonials - brief written statements that praise your services. These act as powerful endorsements that can spark positive word of mouth. Make sure you get into a habit of asking your customers for testimonials, and then use them to your benefit. Post them on your business website, share them on your business Facebook page and hang them up in a brick and mortar shop if you have one. Whatever you do, make sure these testimonials are on display for the public and seed a positive image of your handyman business.
Use the ACHP Logo
If you are an active member of ACHP, use the ACHP logo to show your customers you are affiliated and certified. The logo looks good on business cards, flyers, etc which makes for great marketing of your handyman business. Separate yourself from those who are not serious about the industry.
Always do what you can to get positive word of mouth for your business. Word of mouth marketing will happen if you encourage it and pay attention to it, or ignore it all together. Why not go ahead and utilize this powerful marketing strategy to gain new customers? Tune into what your customers are saying about your small business and use it to gain a bigger customer base.

Are your Customers Able to Find You?

Our search requests continue to increase significantly. The new search engine installed in August was indeed what the doctor ordered. This means more and more folks are browsing our directory listings. However, many of you have not updated your listing in a while. In some cases, customers are having difficulties reaching you because of outdated information in your listing. How do we know this? Some of them are calling ACHP. Makes us wonder how many customers are reluctant to go the extra mile thus contacting someone else with a working or displayed phone number, etc.
To fix this problem:
Log in to your member account and:
- Ensure you have access, if not contact us immediately.
- Click on "My Directory Listings" then "Edit". Ensure your information is up to date.
- Enter a city, state, zip code in the display map. If not, the search engine will not be able to find you by zip code search.

Ensure your email and phone number is correct, etc. Add more unique keywords.
|
