E-News                    Newsletter #99                       September 2019
Dear Members,

2019 Annual Training Symposium/Conference

We are a few days away from our annual Conference in beautiful Denver Colorado!!!  So far weather is looking great!!  Remember there is a free shuttle from the hotel to the Embassy Suites.  Attached you will find the information on that service.   Registration begins at 2PM on Sunday afternoon and goes until 6 when we will have a meet and greet reception in the Grays and Long Peaks meeting rooms where we will have a complimentary hors d' oeuvre and food bar along with a complimentary beverage.  This is a great opportunity for folks to start networking and socializing with each other.

We have an outstanding lineup of presentations this year!  We also will have a roundtable discussion this year where members can hear from Instructors from FLETC, State Police, Highway Patrol, Local Agencies, including Canada, on how they are currently running their driver training programs.  If your agency is doing something unique, or you would like to share any information about your agency's EVOC program, please bring materials electronically so we can share that information to all members present.

You've asked for more hands on driving and we will have it this year!  You will have the opportunity to drive at two tracks!  Colorado State Patrol and Adams County will both have activities set up!  In addition to our vendor reception Monday evening you will have unique opportunities to network with other members, Board members, and even presenters in our hospitality suite.  On Wednesday evening we will have our informal banquet where we will have some great food, our guest speaker, Erik Bourgerie, Colorado POST Director, present our 2019 Z Man Award, and swear in our 2019 Officers.   The highlight of the evening is our Bruce Cabral Scholarship Raffle where we raffle off some very exciting prizes, that you must be present to win!!   Last year we had an outstanding assortment of items including TV's, Yeti Coolers, Yeti Items,  police memorabilia and many items from Cabela's outdoors. So that we have lots of items to raffle off,  we are asking everyone attending the conference to please bring something from their agency to contribute to the raffle.  Please consider bringing coins, hats, shirts, or anything of interest to a police officer or trainer.  Maybe something unique to your region or agency.   The more items we have the more successful the raffle will be!

ALERT Facebook

Folks, our Facebook page is constantly being updated with new information, articles, stories, etc.  If you haven't already done so please "Like" ALERT's page.  We are at 956 likes.  In prior newsletters, I've asked to spread the word and that our goal was to get to 1000 before the conference!  To help try to pick this up ALERT will contact our "1000th Like" and send them a very nice gift!!  Pass the word and get on board!!

LOCATION NEEDED 2020 Conference

I know we haven't even started our 2019 Conference but the Board is already thinking about our 2020 conference!  Although ALERT was started 30 years ago at a meeting at the FBI,  next year will be 30 years of our official charter as an organization!  If you are interested in hosting the 2020 ALERT International Training Symposium/ Conference please let us know.  Send a request (email) to President Bush  [email protected]  expressing your desire to be considered as a host site for next year's conference.  If you are attending this years conference and are interested in hosting next year, the Board can sit down with you and discuss any questions you may have.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Denver!!

Thank you, safe travels, and God Bless,
