A LETTER FROM JOHN DAVID (JD)

Dear Friends and Family of  Camp Sancta Maria,

I wanted to share with you a few more photos of our campers from this past season. In part, because it brings me joy to see their smiling faces again and remember the amazing memories we made this summer. Thanks to your support, our campers  not only had fun but they also learned new skills, worked as a team, built friendships, encouraged and supported one another, and most importantly grew in their relationship with the Lord.

Spending time at Camp helped them grow; being at CSM changed  their lives!
Seeing these photos also reminds me of our hard working volunteers. Dozens of our special helpers make the trek to Gaylord each year--some make multiple trips each season!-- to help keep Camp looking and running its best.

Meet Tom, Susan, Deb, and Donna with Fr. Bob Spezia. They were among a large number of volunteers who assisted during Work Camp in May.

Many others arrived at Camp just after the campers left for the season.
Say hello to Ron and Susan, pictured to the right. Long-time dedicated volunteers, Ron and Susan are part of a team of amazing folks who assist us year-round with projects for Camp.

Here are the screens and shutters they helped rebuild, stain and install on the Rec cabin earlier this month. These custom made screens and shutters--which we're in the process of replacing on all of our cabins thanks to our volunteers--protect our cabins from the harsh winter elements.

Our volunteers give tirelessly of their time and talents knowing that in a few short months  our campers will return to Camp Sancta Maria, ready for new adventures, new friends, and new experiences.

Our campers are the reason our volunteers do what they do!

Like the kids above enjoying their day trip to Mackinac Island. They started their day with breakfast at Camp, then a bus ride to  The National Shrine of the Cross in the Woods in Indian River  for Mass, before continuing their energetic bus ride to Mackinaw City, where they enjoyed a ferry ride to the island!

Or the kids to the right who learned the science of combining baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in a cool and explosive way! The result? A foam volcano!

Thanks to all who support us, CSM is still providing experiences, memories, and--most importantly--an opportunity for CSM campers to grow in their relationship with our Lord and experience the love of God in a profound way!

On behalf of our campers and their families, I thank you in advance for partnering with us to change lives.  We are grateful for your support of Camp Sancta Maria! God bless you and your loved ones.

Warm regards,
John David Kuhar
Dad, Donor, and Executive Director

CSM IS AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL SESSIONS
Looking for Camp Space to Rent?

Camp Sancta Maria is available to rent both pre-season and post-season for groups interested in hosting special camp sessions, seminars, meetings, retreats, outdoor training courses, school programs, picnics, reunions, and more.

Camp Sancta Maria is blessed to occupy 96 acres of natural wooded property. Our grounds border two inland lakes--Lake 27 and Martin Lake; and we enjoy our own private bay on Lake 27.

We work hard to continually maintain and upgrade our grounds. All the attention to the grounds, all the renovations and upgrades to our facilities, serve to keep our children and families safe, happy, healthy and holy.
Each of our ten camper cabins houses between 14 and 24 individuals, and campers sleep on bunk beds. Each camper is provided shelving next to their bed to store personal items.

The CSM Mess Hall can seat up to 175 people at a time.  Our kitchen staff is ServSafe certified, and we currently enjoy high ratings in our health inspection.

At the corral, we house approximately 20 horses throughout the summer.

CSM's ropes course includes 22 elements, or stations, that enhance team building skills, teach group problem solving, and help campers--young and old--overcome their personal fears. Our ropes instructors are all trained by and supervised according to the State of Michigan standards in Ropes Course licensing.

CSM is held in a trust governed by an independent Board of Trustees. While the Archdiocese of Detroit had generously donated the services of one its priests for decades, they are not responsible for CSM financially. This means that we are responsible to secure our own funding to advance the mission that has been passed down to us since our founding in 1933. To continue this essential work, we need your help. Are you feeling called to donate? Thank you for your prayerful consideration!
