Goodies with Grandparents
For the past six years it has been a privilege to take off my Registrar's hat and just be Grandma for "Goodies with Grandparents Day". Teachers, my husband, Steve, and I have loved the songs, the gifts and the special moments you have created for all of the Grandparents who attend. There is a wall in our house that is covered with the hand-made posters proudly presented to us over the years. One says that I am 43 years old. I'm keeping that one FOREVER. Thank you, Teachers and children, for all of the wonderful memories. Grandparents tuck those away to recall again and again.

Reading Buddies - So Happy Together
During the 2018-19 school year, Mrs. Hancock and Mrs. Zimmerman collaborated to help two groups of EAA students make new friends and learn to read in a comfortable, non-stressful environment. The idea of Reading Buddies was born and the High School International students visited the Kindergarten classroom each Tuesday to share books and friendship. At first, it was obvious that both groups were a little nervous about meeting each other, but this weekly visit soon became a much-anticipated event, with smiles and hugs all around. So, once again, new friendships are being formed and stories are being shared for a new school year. .
The Davis Principles

Hawks Family,

I was reminded, once again, of one of the many blessings of EAA. I was standing next to Mrs. McCary last week when Kindergartner, Edrie Lake, walked up to her and explained that she had just helped one of her classmates off of the ground. She followed that up by saying that this is what it said in their memory verse for the week, which she proceeded to recite: Galatians 6:9 - "Don't get tired of helping others".

I was blown away! This is really what it's all about. Not only did she know her memory verse, she applied it. Unreal! My prayer is that we can all follow Edrie's example.

What a blessing it is to experience Jesus with our students.

Blessings,

Where in the World are EAA Alumni?
Benjamin Shumate , Class of 2015

Since graduating from EAA, Ben has been pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. After a rigorous application and screening process, Ben was recently hired by the San Diego Police Department.  To be accepted into the police academy, Ben successfully completed required written exams, administrative interviews, polygraph and psychological exams, physical fitness testing and medical clearance.  Training for the job includes attending the San Diego Regional Public Safety Training Institute, a 25 week course at Miramar College. Recruits attend classroom lectures and technical skills training concentrating on intense physical conditioning. All recruits must pass all POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training) examinations in order to successfully complete the police academy.   After his graduation in February 2020, Ben will be under the supervision of a Field Training Officer for six months and then he will be on his own. It’s good to know that one of EAA’s finest will be out there to protect and serve.
