Share the Plate:
On the 5th Sundays of a month, 50% of cash and all designated money is deposited in the Large Project Fund. Our Buildings & Grounds Team then uses these funds to take on larger projects and improvements. Recently these funds were used to replace the Fellowship Hall chairs ($1,500) and replace the 20 year old coffeemaker ($700.)
Thank you, The Buildings & Grounds Team
(In August, we raised $561.46 for Austin Dog Alliance)

Love Notes
Each month, there will be a different group at Live Oak featured in our "Love Notes" appreciation program. You're encouraged to grab one of those pink sheets and let the group know how much you appreciate what they contribute to Live Oak life.  September love notes will be for our Soundboard team.  Please be sure to stop by the Love Notes box and show your love!
A Few Words from the Minister...
To Be a Leader
There is a streak of anti-authoritarianism in our UU culture. Many of us have resisted unprincipled authority throughout our lives.

We resist authority ... but does that mean we should also resist BEING an authority, one of ethics and integrity?  Read more

Stewardship Update Week 3
Final Push!
The Stewardship Committee is pleased to report that, as of last Sunday, we have received pledges in excess of $195,000. This is great for us, but we aspire for more. If you have not turned in your pledge form, you can turn it into the green box next Sunday at church, or pledge online anytime.  We also hope you can join us for our wrap-up event after second service this coming Sunday, September 29. See you there!

Donation to HCCM
Over the past weeks, the Newsletter has been showing a picture of the cart in the Narthex. The cart is used to collect food and hygiene items for the Hill Country Community Ministries (HCCM) pantry. Friday when the the distribution truck was emptied and 92 families received fresh food, it returned with 109 pounds of donations from Live Oak Church. That is how we Empower the Dream of helping our neighbors.
Thank You, The HCCM Team

Faith Development
Here's what you need to know this week!

Nursery/PreK can use your help. Are you willing to volunteer once a month for a worship service and RE time? Know someone who would like a paid position in our nursery? Please let Carrie know.

Please register if you haven't already done so. A procedure change to note this year: elementary children will no longer sign in downstairs. Parents should sign them in at the classroom upstairs, preferably by 10:05, which is when class will begin. If you arrive late, please enter quietly as we will begin opening circle on time to allow more class time in our studios. Sign out is upstairs at the same classroom by 10:55.

Middle School and High School are off to a great start so far! Keep coming and help build momentum. The middle school will start their UUtopia project this Sunday and the high school will continue their discussion of protests and building momentum for change. Register to be added to the email list for families and the chat group for youth!

Adult drop-in session for this week is a continuation of our discussion about our 1st principle in action. For more information about chalice circles or other adult learning, please visit the  Learning pages of the website.

Please consider how you can help in faith development across the ages this year by contacting Carrie Krause. Let's grow our base of adults sharing the journey with our children, youth, and adults. Many hands make light work and allow for a richer experience for all involved.
