Dr. Frank Sullivan named first Gordon F. Cheesbrough Research Chair in Family Medicine 
   

Dr. Frank Sullivan
On February 20, North York General Hospital announced the appointment of Dr. Frank Sullivan as the first Gordon F. Cheesbrough Research Chair in Family and Community Medicine. The Chair is the first of its kind in Canada and will play an important role in community hospital-based research.

 

Dr. Sullivan will lead research initiatives at NYGH, the North York Family Health Team, and at University of Toronto Practice Based Research Network (UTOPIAN) sites across the region.

Pat Mackey on living with a terminal cancer diagnosis:

Pat (Patricia) Mackey was an inaugural member of North York General Hospital's Patient and Family Advisory Council.

Following her cancer reoccurrence in the winter of 2013 and while receiving care at the Freeman Centre for the Advancement of Palliative Care at NYGH, she generously shared her time, candid thoughts and observations, on video, of what it is like to live with a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Many medications look a lot like candy.  Did you know many medications look a lot like candy? While most adults are able to distinguish between the two, children may have difficulty telling them apart. 

Norman Tang, a Pharmacist at North York General, shows how easy it can be to confuse certain candies with medications and offer s tips on keeping them safe from children.
