A Night at the Races











T he York Catholic Booster Club is hosting "A Night at the Races," on Saturday, November 9, at YC. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Post time is 6:15 PM.  Join us for 8 simulcast horse races, silent auction, raffles, rip tickets, and all you can eat food and beverages with catering by Mission BBQ for $25.
 
Fun sponsorship opportunities are available. You can buy a table, name a race, and name your horse(s).  Volunteer opportunities are also available.  Dress is casual. This event is for ages 21+.

YC Spirit Night at Handel's
York Catholic High School-Four Diamonds Spirit Night at Handel's Ice Cream is Thursday, October 3, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Handel's, 2310 S. Queen Street in Spry. Click here for the flyer to show on your phone or download and print. Present the flyer at the beginning of your order. Every flyer that is returned to Handel's on October 3 will be totaled and York Catholic will receive 20% of the total sales brought in from the flyers. Boys Lacrosse Coach
York Catholic has a position available for Boys Lacrosse Head Coach. Previous high school age level experience required. Colleges Guarantee Admissions to YC Students
York Catholic High School is pleased to participate in the Guaranteed Admission Plan with three Catholic universities for the 2019-20 school year.  This creates the opportunity to have YC students continue their education in a post-secondary institution promoting Catholic values and beliefs. The universities participating are: 
            • Immaculata University, near Philadelphia, PA
            • King's College in Wilkes Barre, PA
            • St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA
Each university has specific GPA and SAT expectations of senior applicants, but the premise of the Guaranteed Admission Plan is the same. Students will be admitted to the university based on minimum GPA and SAT levels set by the university.  The application fee at Immaculata and St. Vincent is also waived for York Catholic students who qualify.

Grandparents Mass

Theme Days*
Rules for Dress Down as listed in the handbook apply for Spirit Week.  Students are encouraged to dress according to the following themes on the specified days:

Monday, September 30 - America Monday
Tuesday, October 1 - Team Tuesday
Wednesday, October 2 - Color War Wednesday
Thursday, October 3 - Movie Character Thursday   
Friday, October 4 - Green and Gold Friday
 
Pep Rally/Parade/Football Game/Alumni Band
The annual Homecoming Pep Rally is Friday, October 4, at 2:20 PM with the Parade beginning at 5:30 PM. We will also have a n Alumni Tent located by the school main entrance bus circle where we will be giving tours of the school renovations from 5-6 PM. Join us for the football game versus Fairfield at 7 PM. Marching Band Alumni bring your instruments and sit with the Band during this year's Homecoming game! If you are planning on playing with the band, email  [email protected]    and we will have music ready for you.  If you would like your music in advance, please state that in your email along with your mailing address. Calling all YC Cheerleader Alumni...Cheer, dance, and stunt during the 3rd and 4th quarters.  If you are interested in participating, please contact Heather Hoffman at  [email protected] .
 
Homecoming Dance*
The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, October 5, from 7-10 PM in the cafeteria.  Tickets are $10 per student and will be on sale September 23-27 from 7:45-8:15 AM and 3:00-3:15 PM in Room 112.  The Formal Dress Code Agreement is required by all students who wish to attend the dance.  Any student wishing to bring a guest to the dance must also submit a Guest Permission Form.  Parents and students please know the guidelines will be strictly enforced.  The most recent trend of formal dress includes two-piece dresses that slightly expose the midriff.  Please know that an exposed midriff at any point throughout the evening will not be permitted and the student will be required to change into something acceptable.   Click  here   for required forms.  Any questions, please contact Melissa Emschweiler at   [email protected] .
 
Alumni Social
The Alumni Association will be hosting a Homecoming Alumni Social on Saturday, October 5, at Central Market, from 6-9 PM. Enjoy food from Mezzogiorno Chef, Tim Spangler '81; cash beer and wine bar from Mudhook owner, Jeff Lau '76; and DJ services from Chris Wagman '67. There is no cost to attend. Coach Jim Forjan Memorial Mass
A memorial Mass will be held in honor of Coach Jim Forjan, Sunday, October 6, at 10 AM in the school auditorium. Contact Lisa Pantano at [email protected] to be a part of the Alumni Mass Choir.  

School Tours
Sunday, October 6, from 11 AM-12 noon, tours will be offered to show the new renovations to the classrooms.

Futures Volleyball Game
Partner school students in grades 1-6 are invited to the Futures Volleyball Game at York Catholic on October 1! Come out and be part of the team as you cheer for your future school! Spend time with the varsity players and coaches, listen to coach's pregame instruction, participate in team prayer, sit together to cheer on the team, and pose with the team for a picture.
