Utah State University welcomes renowned scientist Vanda Grubišic of the Colorado-based National Center for Atmospheric Research to campus Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, for the public presentation, “NCAR Earth Observing Laboratory and the University Community Opportunities for Collaboration.” All are invited to the talk at 9:30 a.m. in Huntsman Hall, Room 260.

“It’s truly a privilege to welcome Dr. Grubišic, one of my long-time colleagues, to campus,” says Maura Hagan, dean of USU’s College of Science and professor in the Department of Physics. “She’s a pioneer in the field of atmospheric dynamics and oversees the end-to-end observational science enterprise at NCAR, including a complex suite of ground-based instruments and airborne platforms for environmental research, as well as their deployment for national and international field campaigns. With her talk, she’ll share opportunities NCAR offers for interdisciplinary research collaboration with students and faculty.”

Undergraduate Research and Creative Opportunity (URCO) awards provide a one semester, $1,000 scholarship, to support original research, scholarship, or creative work by USU undergraduates with the guidance of a faculty member. Proposals may also include requests for additional funds to cover the costs of equipment, supplies, and project-related travel.
On USU's 'A' Day of Giving, Aggies around the world can make gifts of any size to the designation of their choice, as part of a campaign to foster a climate of "giving back" on campus.

Gifts made to the USU College of Science on Friday will go to its undergraduate research fund, which supports travel to presentations and expands research opportunities to more Aggie Scientists.
Aggie undergraduate researchers all disciplines are invited to apply to present or feature their research at the Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research ; presentation opportunities include poster displays, oral presentations, and creative research, and the deadline to apply is November 1, 2019.

Modeled after the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, UCUR is a celebration of academic, professional, and personal achievements from undergraduate research projects and creative endeavors. Undergraduate students from across Utah and from all disciplines are invited to apply for the conference; presentation opportunities include poster displays, oral presentations, and creative research.
Science Unwrapped will return with a presentation by USU nutrition scientist Carrie Duward on October 11th at 7 pm in ESLC 130, as part of this year's "Food for Thought" series. Aggie Scientists are encouraged to get involved with this valuable opportunity to volunteer and gain experience with science outreach.
