Think about an Adjudication for Festival Consideration!

Fall is THE busiest season for TANYS adjudications. And we have a small pool of adjudicators who often need to travel hundreds of miles to fulfill adjudication requests.

This is why - especially at this time of year - we encourage companies to put in their requests as early as possible, so our adjudicator team can accommodate your preferred date.

We encourage all companies to give serious thought to having an Adjudication for Festival Consideration. Why? Because TANYS and our audiences LOVE seeing lots of variety at Festival. But we need more companies willing to be invited!

An Adjudication for Festival Consideration includes the same elements as an Adjudication for Learning. Your home site adjudicator can also give you suggestions to help prepare your production to travel and perform at Festival.

Imagine the honor of being invited to perform at Festival... the exhilaration your entire company and community will feel... and the opportunity for learning and growth! If your company has never been invited to perform at Festival, remember:
  1. Every company that has performed at Festival was once in your shoes.
  2. If the adjudicator team deems your production worthy of inviting to Festival, you've got something worth seeing - and YOU CAN DO IT!
To be considered to perform at the 2019 Festival, your production must be adjudicated by October 25. Remember: only organizational TANYS members are eligible to request an adjudication. Click here to request your adjudication!
Got a great design? Submit it to the BMI Design Competition!

ATTENTION DESIGNERS! We bet you've done some AMAZING work this past year - and we want to see it. Enter it TODAY in the BMI Design Competition!

Whether it's Scenic, Costume, Lighting, Props, Makeup, Hair, Sound, Special Effects, Technical, Graphic or another design element... show off your hard work and creativity at the 2019 Festival, and earn well-deserved recognition (and maybe a cash prize)!

You don't have to be performing a show at Festival to enter, or even attend Festival (but we really hope you do, so you can see everyone admire your work, and personally accept your award if you win). Click here for more details, guidelines, and the entry form. Good luck!
Nominate a deserving volunteer or company for a TANYS award!

Every community theatre has one: that volunteer who always pitches in. Who works tirelessly behind the scenes (or onstage) to help bring productions to life. Who has faithfully provided significant and valuable service to community theatre for many years.

And many lucky towns, cities and regions have a theatre company that provides exemplary service to its community, and aspires to maintain the highest level of artistic achievement.

Nominate that person - or that deserving community theater company - TODAY for one of the annual TANYS Awards. It's a wonderful way to thank them, and publicly acknowledge their years of service to your theatre family!
  • Fredric Blumberg Distinguished Volunteer Award (given to an individual)
  • Sherman C. Ward, Jr. Distinguished Volunteer Award (given to an individual)
  • Shirley Cockrell Community Theatre Excellence Award (given to an organizational TANYS member)
These awards are presented at the annual TANYS Festival, November 22-24. The deadline to nominate has been EXTENDED to October 20! Click here for more information and the nomination forms.

From Broadway World: Hadestown director, opening night of The Height of the Storm, favorite high school theatre roles
An interview with the Tony-winning director of the musical Hadestown. "I'm now drawn to character-driven, emotionally led stories, but I like to see them get told in formally interesting ways."

Two-time Olivier and Tony winner Jonathan Pryce ("Game of Thrones," Miss Saigon) has joined three-time Olivier Award winner Eileen Atkins ("The Crown," Doubt) to bring the acclaimed West End sensation The Height of the Storm by Florian Zeller, translated by Christopher Hampton, to Broadway.

To celebrate the importance of arts in education, Broadway World asked readers to share which roles in their high school productions were their favorites to perform.
