Alaska-Kamchatka 2020 Summer Flights
In the summer of 2020, Yakutia Airlines will embark on its 9th season of service between Anchorage and the Russian Far East cities of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Yakutsk.
Flights will operate on Mondays for 10 weeks, July 13 through September 14, 2020 utilizing 737-700 aircraft configured with Economy and Premium Economy classes of service.
The extended season will allow travelers to attend Alkhalalalai, the Fall festival celebrating Kamchatka's indigenous peoples. There is no better opportunity to taste local delicacies, catch a dance performance, or learn about native culture. You may even participate in a dance competition. Tour operators are encouraged to coordinate itineraries around this special event.
Fly fishermen welcome the season extension into the first half of September when good fishing and good weather align. Important Russian conferences, such as GEOHEAT 2020 and the Eastern Economic Forum, also take place in early September and will be readily accessible to visitors from North America thanks to the longer flight season.

In summer, we made a decision to conquer active Plosky or "Flat" Tolbachik Volcano. We were told that it's eruption had already stopped, and we intended to find out. We carefully prepared for the trip: we took a 6-wheeler ATV, bought some provision, and hired a professional guide. At first, nothing seemed to threaten our journey.
