Principal's Message
February 17, 2017
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
Yesterday, the Associate Superintendent for Curriculum & Assessment of the Catholic Schools Office, Dr. Brandy Sato, visited Our Lady Queen of Peace. As we toured the school, talked to students, and visited, it was gratifying to see OLQP through new eyes. Dr. Sato was very impressed by the evidence of learning displayed throughout the school. Teachers are constantly publishing student work by posting products in the halls. Student artwork, compositions, timelines, problem solving activities, and more fill the hallways. When asked, students explained the learning activities they were involved in. She met volunteers. One of the parents she visited with shared that her daughter, who is in first grade, was demonstrating what she has learned from her middle school mentor when she told her sibling, "Don't give up. Keep trying." She observed students holding the doors open for each other and for us. Words like "welcoming, "family," "support," and "dedication" were used. She was also very impressed with the efforts to use assessment data to individualized student instruction, staff development, school-wide project based learning, and parent involvement. OLQP is a school to be proud of. Thank you for being part of this mission and ministry.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
