RAIHN* WEEK: Sign-Ups & Training. During RAIHN Week, October 21 -- 28, we will turn our church into a home for temporarily homeless families. We'll convert our classrooms into bedrooms, cook meals, stay overnight, and provide other help. To join our volunteer team, sign up in the lounge after church on Sunday, or contact Chris DeGolyer, via office@uuroc.org with questions. If you'd like to learn more before volunteering, we have opportunities to "shadow" experienced volunteers.
If you haven't trained before, attend a two-hour orientation about putting the RAIHN philosophy into action on Thursday, October 11 at 6:30 pm at the Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs Street, Rochester. RSVP to Jen Canning, coordinator@raihn.org . * R ochester A rea I nterfaith H ospitality N etwork: Keeping families together. Getting families home for good.
CRIB SHEETS NEEDED FOR RAIHN: It's safer for toddlers to sleep on a crib mattress than on an inflatable bed. We have two standard crib mattresses for our young RAIHN guests but could use standard crib sheets and crib blankets. If you have some that you could donate, they would be very much appreciated. Please let Marti Eggers, Sarah Singal or Chris DeGolyer know via office@uurocorg. Thank you!
PEACE VIGIL: Join us Sundays at noon until 1:00 pm at the intersection of Goodman Street and East Avenue. Rain, snow or shine. We began in 2002, before the invasion and occupation of Iraq, and have continued weekly since 2003. Make your sign, or use one of ours. For questions, call Hal Bauer at (585) 335-2623, or ask Rev. Lane about her August 2018 vigil experience.
CHURCH LIBRARY & BOOKSTORE HOURS: The First Universalist Church library and bookstore are open each Sunday during MOCHA (coffee hour) for browsing, borrowing and buying. We have new books for sale at half price, donated books for sale for 50 cents, free children's books and a free magazine exchange, as well as a lending library for members and regular attenders.
PLEASE RETURN:  If you have borrowed Patrisse Khan-Cullor's When They Call You a Terrorist from the church library, please return it as soon as you have finished reading it so that others may borrow it.
