KEMPTVILLE - Catered Affairs now has a top-notch venue to add to its repertoire of gourmet food and quality service.

This well-established catering business with 11 years of service in Eastern Ontario moved into the spacious Heritage Hall at the Kemptville Campus Education & Community Hub earlier this year and is spreading the word about their location.

"We're excited because we feel once people experience a Catered Affairs event at Heritage Hall, word will travel about its unique interior space and great location," says chef and co-owner Natalie Castellas.

Natalie, husband Chris Drozda and team spent time revamping the space that was once the Kemptville College of Agricultural Technology cafeteria. What you have now is a large dining room with an adjoining fireplace room and bar licensed for up to 146 people. It has new A/V equipment for meetings and conferences.

It is ideal for everything from small, more intimate events to larger meal service gatherings. Outside on the lawn surrounded by ancient trees and heritage buildings, Catered Affairs can serve up to 500 people under a tent.

"It's allowing us to be much more creative and flexible," says Natalie.

"It's a perfect fit at the perfect time," adds Chris. Their business has grown considerably in the past five years. They've been looking for a space for their industrial kitchen but hadn't found anything until now.

The space allows for an even larger kitchen area with a spacious buffet service area, a walk-in fridge and freezers. This new service area allows them to make up to 1,000 meals per day.

"We needed this so that we can serve different groups at the same time and more efficiently," says Natalie. The company employs 6 full-time people and up to 25 casual workers depending on the size of the service or event.

"We do it all, from informal to very formal," says Natalie, adding the new location allows them to offer a venue for groups looking to host breakfast, lunch, cocktail parties and dinner events. They host specialty events, such as wine tasting and wine pairing, weddings and so much more.

"We make everything from scratch here," she adds, noting some of her favourite things to do are making fancy hors d'oeuvres, eye-catching desserts and hearty, local food meals.

Catered Affairs is experienced in school lunch service and work closely with three school boards. Off-site and corporate catering continues to be one of their top services and they are the exclusive caterer for the Community Hub. Newer services include take-home meals, rental of linens and dishes as well as cooking classes.

"We are building on our history of service but also expanding into fun new areas," says Natalie, who was named 2019's Female Entrepreneur of the Year by the North Grenville Chamber of Commerce.
