Caring for each other is part of our calling as Christians. There are many ways in which we can show the love of Christ to our neighbours, and one of these is being fully present with those who are in need. Within the parish, we have a team of people who are trained in the ministry of presence and the practice of active listening. They offer time and care for people in the parish who are suffering physically, emotionally or spiritually and need a hand to hold and a heart to understand. If you or a family member would like this kind of care and support in one-on-one visits at home, in hospital or a convalescent home, you are encouraged to contact the rector, the parish office, or any member of the pastoral care team
pastoralcare@stjohnsottawa.ca.
Gordon Johnston is the Coordinator, Brian Cameron, Bev Humphries and David MacIntyre make up the rest of the team. They will be formally commissioned in September.
