Biographies

Laura Banks 

Laura is a mental health professional in private practice. She provides counseling, education, advocacy, skill development and service coordination to families in adoption. Laura also sits on several Boards and Committees with the clear intent of assisting children to find permanency and healing in their lives. Laura is an adoptive parent to seven children and has been a Treatment Foster Care parent for over 18 years. She is an experienced trainer to adoptive and foster parents and others. 

Sylvia Gibbons

Sylvia founded and runs a Support Group for Adoptive Families and founded and runs an Adopted Youth Group, both of which are in Simcoe County. She is the ACO's PACT Parent Liaison. In this role she assists and guides Pathways parent groups to form ongoing parent support groups in their communities. Sylvia continues to provide peer support to many adoptive families throughout Ontario. Sylvia has been a PRIDE trainer for eight years. Sylvia is also an adoptive parent and is a member of the Developmental Trauma Action Alliance.

Fees

$100 registration fee: Including Continental Breakfast, Hot Lunch Buffet & Refreshments

Special dietary concerns must be submitted by Friday, October 4th.

Parent and Caregiver Rate:  Persons living with an FASD, Parents, Caregivers & Family Members of persons living with a FASD you can apply for a rate of $25 to attend (click on register now to apply for this, we will contact you if you are successful) 

You will not be considered to be registered until payment has been received or purchase order has been faxed to (807) 622-3548 Attn: Maureen. Payments are requested in advance.

Cancellations

Will need to be received by 4pm Monday, October 7th via email to mparkes@norwestchc.org or via voice mail to 807.626.8485 or you will be responsible to pay your registration fees due to the cost of confirmed meals and materials.
