President's Message
June was a month of highs and lows for our ADAO family.
This month we are dedicating our eNewsletter to Andy Igrejas, friend, colleague, and public health trailblazer,
who passed away after a brave fight with brain cancer. Andy, National Campaign Director and longtime Director of Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families, dedicated his life's work to fighting against deadly chemicals. We will miss Andy deeply and his legacy will forever live on through our fight.
Be heard -- you too can
submit your comment to the EPA about why they must evaluate the risk of asbestos. Worse yet, the EPA is using hard spin and propaganda to try to trick you with a so-called significant new use rule (SNUR). Who in their right mind would want to introduce a new way to use asbestos -- please.
We must continue to consistently push for a ban on asbestos and to protect victims' rights. Keep up with the latest TSCA news at our
TSCA Reform Landing Page. Also, participate in our
Raise Your Voice Six-Word Quote Campaign to take control of the narrative and put public pressure on the EPA to ban asbestos once and for all.
Action Mesothelioma Day
is right around the corner. Join UK Warriors, allies, and colleagues on July 6th as they host events to raise awareness about mesothelioma and remember those who have lost their battle to this tragic disease.
In May, at the powerful
II International Asbestos Seminar in Brazil, we got up close and personal in an interview with internationally
renowned ban asbestos activist, Fernanda Giannasi. Check out our interview
here.
Here are 3 things you can do for Mesothelioma Awareness Month:
Register for the 10th Annual Miles for Meso 5K Race and 3K Walk/Fun-Run,
enter a loved one's name to be worn on a tribute bib on race day, or
submit the name of your loved one for the 2018 Mesothelioma Warrior Memorial Video.
Have you signed our
petition to the EPA
yet?
Join nearly 13,000 advocates demanding change and sign today - the time has never been more critical than now to urge the EPA to ban asbestos without exemptions.
We're halfway through 2018, and our fight to ban asbestos is strong, unified, and making a difference! Let's draw inspiration from one another, and continue to band together to make change happen.
