To honor George Washington

Whether you trend red, blue or purple, most of us share a c
ommitment to common courtesy and civil discourse.

What better way to honor this bedrock value than to share the code of conduct adopted by our Founding Father, George Washington -- whose birthday we celebrate today.

As a young man, George transcribed and committed to heart what are now known as George Washington's "rules of civility and decent behavior."

Some of the 110 rules focus on how to eat, dress and walk. Others put forth advice about respectful communication and humility.
