Dear HCA Family!
HCA is settling down to be the happy, focused environment that we believe God intends for His children. Our new students have fit right in, and we are all getting used to the schedule. We’ve been able to make use of our incredible Outdoor Classroom and Nature Explore Playspace, as well as our playground and field due to extraordinary weather! Thank you, God!
There is a palpable sense of excitement as we all prepare for the REACH conference that begins a week from today! (Oct. 3-4 REMEMBER- no school) Because all of our students learn the same topics at the same time, and they all participate in the integrated Food for Life Program, we have tried to make them aware of and involved in this international conference where our “own” FFL program will be a featured workshop!
Our students play an active role by
- appearing in the PowerPoint that will be featured in our workshop (available on our website)
- displaying their work and FFL binders
- creating healthy snacks & soups for the guests to enjoy
- creating signs for inside and the garden
- leading worship through dance and song (Dance Ministry, Thursday; Worship Team, Friday)
- being featured in our Food for Life Book preview
We want the students to be included because the whole purpose of our school and the conference is to better serve them! We attempt to make learning as authentic as possible by integrating activities, big days, and subjects whenever possible. We want them to experience life derived from a Biblical worldview and know that God created a world that is an integrated whole, where all the parts work together and are intrinsically linked. Colossians 1:16-17
There is no way to sum up all that has gone into our FFL program over the past decade. Once the book is published, you can see for yourselves. Understanding the reasons behind it will help you understand the biggest picture or God’s reasons for making this program central to the lives of the HCA family.
GUIDING VERSE
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him
who sent me and to finish his work.”
John 4:34
VISION
The Food for Life Program is designed to
help students make healthy choices in their lives
in order to be good stewards of all God’s gifts,
including their own bodies.
Then they would be able to say
“
YES
”
to anything God has planned for them to do!
Saying “yes” to God is what life is all about, what makes it purposeful, good, and exciting!
Thank you for all your contributions to this conference. I know that a little army is working hard on all the details behind the scenes. (Call Ali Graham in the office if you want to join them and find some extra hours before Thursday. She’ll find a task for you as well!) Please pray for this conference. Like-minded educators from all over the US, India and China will be gathering to encourage one another to say “YES” to God’s ways of educating his children who are HIS image bearers! Please pray for good health for our staff and students as a bug has hit many of them. We don’t want a single one to miss this conference!
May God bless you!
In Him who is able,
Susan Hayward, Principal
