LCUL, Local Credit Unions Hike the Hill in Washington, D.C. This Week; Proves Timely for Credit Union Priorities
Advocates from Louisiana credit unions joined LCUL in Washington, D.C., to Hike the Hill yesterday. The group met in person with each of the offices of our delegation. Led by LCUL President/CEO Bob Gallman and Adams & Reece Lobbyists Jeff Brooks, their visit proved timely as the House moves closer to scheduling a vote on the SAFE Banking Act which will remove barriers for credit unions providing financial services to legal marijuana businesses.

Another critical issue the advocates were able to message, was why members of Congress should reject Section 2821 of the Senate National Defense Authorization Bill. That section of the NDAA bill would give for-profit banks rent-free access to establish branches on military bases - some of the same big banks that have paid record fines for engaging in practices that were not consumer friendly. Gallman complimented the leadership of House Armed Services Committee Member Ralph Abraham for his support of a better bill that passed in the House.

As employers, we want our employees to be able to retire on their own terms-with dignity and financial security after a job well done. We want this not only for the sake of retirees but for the sake of everyone still on the job. Postponed retirements can delay other employees' opportunities for development and promotion. Morale suffers when employees continue working only because they can't afford to retire. With the right tools and a few simple strategies, however, you can easily become part of the solution. Discover three key strategies for guiding your employees to a successful and timely retirement:
  • The most potent drivers of engaging employees in effective retirement planning.
  • How to design and support retirement education programs.
  • Showing employees how to get the most out of online tools.
