2019-20 School Theme: Open a Book – Begin a Journey

The Constitution is the Supreme Law. It rules above everything else. Without the Constitution we wouldn’t be able to make a lot of the choices that we do every day. For example, we are able to speak our ideas and our opinions freely because of the Constitution. We are able to say our Brookfield Academy prayer every day at the end of our assemblies because of the Constitution. We are able to say the Pledge of Allegiance every day because of the Constitution. We say that very special Pledge of Allegiance to pledge our loyalty and our commitment to the flag of the United States of America, because that flag is a symbol of our great nation.

Summer Days 2020 New Class Contest: Propose a new Summer Days class and if selected, take that class at no charge and be recognized in the 2020 catalog! Entry forms are available online . Yearbook! Early Bird Price ($65) expires October 1. Order online at www.jos tens .com for the 2020 edition of this year's book. Once there, select Brookfield Academy from Brookfield, Wisconsin. The Boy Scout Annual Fundraiser! Buy popcorn, holiday wreaths, door swags, garlands, Kringle, and coffee through Thursday, October 10. Order forms and drop boxes in school offices. Delivery dates: November 18-23.

Visiting Artist Series: Levels 5-12. To Begin the World Over Again: The Life of Thomas Paine , written and performed by Ian Ruskin, Friday, October 11, 2:20-3:10 pm, Freedom Hall gym. Sponsor: BA Parents April and Brian McCarty.

Summer Days 2020 Applications Being Accepted! Are you interested in an Assistant or Volunteer position next summer? Download and fill out an Assistant or Volunteer form. All applications are due December 20, 2019, no exceptions. Questions? Contact Julie D'Arruda.

College Visits: Representatives from national and international colleges visit the BA campus throughout the fall. Students are invited to stop in. The BA College Visit schedule is listed here .

Athletics Team Photos: If you'd like to order individual and team sport photos of your student, a form will be coming home after photos are taken. Information on the form can be used to access photos here .

Time to Schedule Conferences: Thursday, October 10, 3:40-8 pm; Tuesday, October 22, 3:40-7 pm; and Thursday, October 24, 3:40-8 pm. Please e-mail Mary Fenelon with your preferred date, time, and the teachers with whom you'd like to meet; your schedule is returned via e-mail.

PSAT Testing: Upper School students will test on Wednesday, October 16.

Advanced Placement Exams: All parents should have received an important letter regarding updates to AP® programming and ordering. If you missed the letter, a copy can be found here . The Brookfield Academy deadline for ordering AP® exams is Friday, November 1 . Please submit payment, with one blue order form per student, to Ms. Reynolds. Scholarship Testing is offered for students entering Levels 9-12 for the 2020-21 school year on Saturday, November 2, 9 am. Save the date! This test is offered only one time per year. Students interested in participating for these competitive scholarships may register here or please contact Admissions for more information.

Important Reminder to our Parents: Brookfield Academy provides a crossing guard to assist with crossing at Brookfield Rd. from 3:15-3:45 pm on school days. After 3:45 pm, any student in the Middle, Lower, or Primary School participating in athletics or other afterschool activities will need written permission from a parent to leave that location and cross Brookfield Rd. (on their own) to another area of campus. Parental permission should be given in advance (through your division office), to the adult in charge of the initial activity. Students should only cross Brookfield Rd. at the lighted crosswalk.

Grandparents Day, Friday October 4; 12 noon dismissal. MAP Program available until 6 pm. This is a half day for students. Information and a class schedule coming home soon with your child. We welcome Grandparents here for the entire morning, but they can arrive and depart at whatever times best fit their schedule of the classes they wish to see. More information here.

Google Classroom: Please contact teachers directly by email if you have questions about accessing your student's homework assignments in Google Classroom.

Drive Safely on Campus: Please reduce speeds during drop-off and pick-up, stay off your phone, and watch for students crossing into traffic. Arriving after school at 3:30 pm or after athletic practices at 5:10 pm will reduce wait times. Please be alert as we want to keep all of your children safe! The Freedom Hall North doors lock at 4 pm; the Flagpole door (South Freedom Hall lot) is open until 6 pm in case your student forgets something. If you need to reach someone after school, please contact the MAP supervisor at 262-442-1224.

Level 8 parents and students : Final Four is Wednesday, October 16! Join us for this informative first look at life in the Upper School. Learn about academics, athletics, clubs, and activities, as well as student life. Students will go to Patriots Hall at 2 pm for a tour, mini-classes, and dinner – then to a dance. Parents come at 5 pm for an appetizer supper with administrators, teachers, and coaches. The student and parent events conclude at 7:15 pm. Sibling care is available. This is a NO HOMEWORK evening for Level 8. Please RSVP here .

Primary School Conferences: (Levels LK-2), Tuesday, October 15, 3:30-8 pm; Please e-mail Briana Spaeth for an appointment. Childcare will be available until 8 pm during conferences in Constitution Hall; children should be escorted, signed in, and signed out by the parent.

Lower School Conferences: (Levels 3-5), Wednesday, October 16, 3:30-8 pm. Please e-mail Anne-Marie Roth for an appointment. Childcare will be available until 8 pm during conferences in LIberty Hall; children should be escorted, signed in, and signed out by the parent.

Homecoming/Founders Fest/Thank You!

Homecoming/Founders Fest was another huge success filled with family fun! A heartfelt thank you goes out to BA’s Middle School and Upper School Homecoming Tailgate Chairs - Stephanie Rushing, Middle School and Erika Zaiser, Upper School. Also thank you to Janice Jones, Spirit Store Chair , and the countless number of volunteers who made our events safe, fun, and memorable for all. The BA community is truly grateful for your help and support.

Five Star Run: Congrats & Thank You!

Thank you to all the participants and volunteers who helped to make this another special Five Star Run. Even the weather was perfectly timed, with the rain holding off until the final runner crossed the finish line. Congratulations to all our finishers!

Women's 1 Mile: 1st Place-Jillian Jones; 2nd Place-Claire Spaeth; 3rd Place-Harper Spaeth and Gretchen Peacock.

Grandparents Day, Friday, October 4

The kids are rehearsing their songs and poems, the golf carts are getting warmed up, and the coffee is getting stockpiled for Grandparents Day at BA! Invitations have been mailed and BA is ready to welcome Grandparents for what is sure to be another memorable day. Volunteers are still needed to ensure our visitors have an enjoyable time with their BA scholars. Greeters, shuttle assistants, breakfast servers, traffic patrollers, and golf cart drivers are just a few of the roles where more help is needed. Please sign up to volunteer at Volunteer Hub. Mothers Night Out: Oh, the Places We’ll Go!

This event is Friday, November 8, 6:30-11 pm, at Westmoor Country Club. Chairs of this special night, Samira Yaish and Tarah Davis, are planning an evening full of fun and camaraderie! This back-to-school social event for all BA Moms is an annual favorite. New BA Moms are especially encouraged to attend - it is a great opportunity to meet new friends! Moms of Seniors: this is also an event to honor you! Invitations will be mailed soon. Save the Date! Volunteers are needed to help with set up and clean up for this event. BA Spirit Store

Do you need BA gear? The BA Spirit Store is open every Wednesday, 3:15-4 pm. Shop online or stop in the Spirit Store located in Patriots Hall Cafeteria. The store will also be open on Grandparen ts Day! We are in need of volunteers to assist with the weekly Wednesday store hours. If you are able to assist a few Wednesdays th roughout the year, please contact Janice Jones directly and give her the dates you are available.

Box Tops for Education
