The Goshen Weekly, September 23 , 2019
The Pre-Kindergarten helped plant 60 turnips in the raised beds last week! This newest addition to the Goshen garden joins our beets, broccoli and peppers already in progress! We've already donated 90 lbs of veggies from our garden since July. We're looking forward to donating more this fall. Check out more of the fun on facebook!

Message from the Head of School

Dear Goshen families,

I am excited to announce that Goshen Friends School has a new  website! We have added a few new things, including a sliding bar of upcoming events and a "Spotlight On" page of feature stories from around campus. The site is mobile friendly, which means it's much easier to view on your phone. No matter where you're viewing from, the site is easy to navigate and, I think, very sharp-looking!

If you come across any glitches or other issues (hopefully not, as it was tested and retested over and over again!) please feel free to let me know. And make sure you check back regularly, as we are updating and refreshing the content all the time!

It's not too late to sign up for the 10th annual Hayride which is happening this Sunday from 3:30 to 5 pm at Wynnorr Farm (see flyer at the bottom of this issue). This is one of my favorite Goshen events, and is a great way to usher in the fall! Maybe your little one has never before taken a ride in a tractor-pulled wagon or roasted hot dogs (Veggie options included) and marshmallows (hello, S'mores!). This is the time to do it, among friends and families from Goshen! We are accepting payment and RSVPs until this Friday. (Feel free to send in by backpack). All proceeds benefit the school. I hope to see you there!

Tonight and tomorrow, we welcome parents and guardians to Back-to-School Night. The program begins at 7 pm in the Grange. This is a great way to learn more about what your child will be doing this year!

Finally,  Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins Sunday, September 29 at sundown. To our Jewish friends, I wish you L'shanah tovah!

Have a great week!

In Friendship,
Tr. Mimi

Community Service Project

Each year, the Goshen Fire Company visits our school in October to teach us about fire safety and prevention. Students are always so excited to learn about what firefighters do, explore the fire truck, and even squirt the fire hose!

This fall we'll be saying "THANKS" to the members of the Goshen Fire Company for everything they do for our school and our community by collecting snacks and drinks for their firehouses on Park Avenue and Boot Road. If you'd like to contribute to this SNACK DRIVE, please send in nonperishable individual-sized snacks and drinks that members of the fire company can enjoy when they have down time between calls: granola bars, energy bars, crackers, chips, cookies, pretzels, popcorn, Gatorade, and bottled water are just a few ideas. Feel free to choose your favorite snack!

Please send in donations via car line, or deliver directly to the Office, no later than TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15. The firefighters will be visiting Goshen Friends on October 16 and 17, and we will be presenting donations to them on those days. Thank you!
