GOLDEN ISLES
NON-TRADITIONAL RECYCLING OPTIONS
Non-traditional recycling methods offer Brunswick and Glynn County citizens even greater opportunities to recycle as much as possible and assist with landfill waste reduction.

Keep Golden Isles Beautiful now accepts the following non-traditional recycling streams by appointment:
oral care products /  beauty-personal care products /  chip-snack bags /  tape dispensers /  pens-highlighters-markers /  cereal bags /  solo cups /  drink pouches /  cigarette waste /  cleaner packaging

These collected items will be recycled via TerraCycle.

Citizens Litter Patrol - Take Action Against
Litter Bugs

Be part of the solution and make a positive difference when witnessing cigarettes
or trash tossed out of
vehicles - join the Keep Golden Isles Beautiful
Citizens Litter Patrol (CLP).

We provide CLP cards to community members in an effort to curb littering. It's simple: after witnessing an auto littering infraction, safely complete a CLP card and return to us - the owner of the offending vehicle will receive a warning letter from local officials.

KGIB Celebrates 40 Years  of Clean & Green Efforts  in the Golden Isles

This year Keep Golden Isles Beautiful turns the big 4-0!  That's 40 years of volunteer effort, partnerships, support, and clean & green projects to Make A Difference in the Golden Isles!  Thank YOU for being a part of this legacy, of this history - as a community based, volunteer based educational non-profit with just two paid staff members, we heavily rely on community support and sweat equity to accomplish our goals in litter prevention, waste reduction/recycling, community greening, water resource awareness and education.

Be on the lookout for anniversary celebration efforts. In the meantime, Join our 2019 Partnership Campaign TODAY!

NEW Keep Golden Isles Beautiful Video

Rich and beautiful natural resources abound in Georgia's Golden Isles, creating important marine, estuarine and freshwater habitats. As we celebrate our 40th year of service, we also celebrate the folks who join with us - community partners, financial supporters and volunteers - in working diligently to keep the Golden Isles clean, green and beautiful. Together we are Making a Difference and Making Great Things Happen in our coastal home.

We are excited to present our new Keeping the Golden Isles Beautiful video - turning the spotlight on the beautiful landscape that we are working together to keep clean, green and beautiful. (Click Below)

Coastal Cigarette Litter Prevention Campaign Installs Cigarette Receptacles

Promoting cigarette litter prevention, the GEORIGA'S COAST IS NOT AN ASHTRAY coast-wide educational initiative is installing cigarette receptacles in public spaces near water bodies throughout Georgia's coastal region.

Keep Liberty Beautiful, Keep Savannah Beautiful, Keep McIntosh Beautiful, Keep Camden Beautiful,Tybee Clean BeachVolunteers, the City of Tybee Island, Ft. McCallaster State Park, Crooked River State Park, University of Georgia Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, Ogeechee Riverkeeper and Keep Golden Isles Beautiful are utilizing a $10,000 Keep America Beautiful cigarette litter prevention program grant to place the receptacles, and launch a targeted coastal educational outreach initiative.

Made of cellulose acetate, a type of plastic, cigarette butts are the nation's number one most littered item and do not easily biodegrade. When wet, cigarette butts become toxic litter, leaching toxins and posing potential dangers to coastal ecosystems and their native inhabitants. As part of the two-year coast-wide program, 142 cigarette waste receptacles will be placed in coastal Georgia public spaces near water bodies.

Project Website Unveiled

The GEORGIA'S COAST IS NOT AN ASHTRAY regional cigarette litter prevention outreach effort has a project specific new website. The new site is independent of the participating organizations and will be the clearinghouse for all project information.
