What's Happening in Boise School District

January 28:
Students from the Boise School District will be involved in JUMP Into Innovation Day, a free community event to be held Saturday, January 28th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at JUMP, located in downtown Boise, 1000 W. Myrtle Street. The public is invited to attend and become inspired by more than 100 amazing student inventions during the 2017 Invent Idaho Regional competition as part of Innovation Day. JUMP into fun innovation-related activities like test driving VEX IQ robotics with Les Bois Junior High School, interactive learning with Engineers without Borders and playing with the latest cutting-edge technology with Boise State Creative Technologies Association, Microgravity University, and Space Broncos will be among other fun happenings. Community Education's Winter session begins. Click here to review and register for classes starting the week of January 30th.
Choose from hundreds of new and exciting personal enrichment classes for all ages! From arts and crafts, computers and culinary arts, fitness & health, to garden, green living & the great outdoors, we have a class for everyone! January 30, 31 & February 2:
Informational Math Nights for District 5th & 6th grade parents. Discussion of the recommended student placement in Math 6, Honor 6/7, and Compacted 7/8. These meetings are designed to help parents make informed decisions about what option is best for their student. Meetings will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the following locations:
- South Jr. High: January 30, Library
- Hillside Jr. High: January 31, Band Rm
- East Jr. High: February 2, Library

February 13:
Boise School Board meeting, 6:00 p.m., Boise School District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Rd., Boise. When available, the Board meeting agenda will be posted here. Public is invited to attend.
February 17: No school, K-12 grades.
February 20: Presidents' Day - No school, K-12 grades.
February 22:
Deadline to sign-up for free developmental screening. If you have a child who is from 3-5 years old and may have possible delays in the following areas: Speech; Language; Concepts; Motor Skills; Self Help Skills; Social Emotional; Vision and Hearing. Special Education Services are available for children with developmental delays through the Boise School District's Early Childhood Special Education Program. Click here to learn more.
March 9: Kindergarten registration, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at your neighborhood elementary school.
March 14:
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 Boise School District will hold a bond election to reinvest in our neighborhood schools and community with no increase in the current property tax rate.
The bond will fund a 10-year Educational Facilities Master Plan that:
- Addresses our schools' most pressing needs regarding poor condition, overcrowding and improving educational adequacy while ensuring every school receives attention.
- Makes significant facility improvements today while preparing for the educational needs of students well into the future.
- Is accountable, addressing critical school facility problems now so they don't cost taxpayers more later.
- Provides students with access to safe, modern classrooms and schools that reflect best practices and technology - ensuring students graduate career and college ready.
- Demonstrates a thoughtful balance between hard data, demographic and enrollment projections and the input from parents, patrons, staff and students.
- Serves as a clear reflection of our community's commitment to high-quality neighborhood schools.

On Thursday, January 26, 6th grade students from throughout the Boise District explored career techical fields in a hands-on activity day at the
Professional Technical Dennis Education Center
. The Center, which is nationally recognized for providing students with some of the most cutting-edge career technical programs available, offers a multitude of courses designed to prepare students for future success in career and in life. Click

Adams Elementary School Students Recognized:
Third grade students from Siimone Mansfield's class won Best in Show for their wreath that they created and entered into the Festival of Trees competition. The students used Adams' glass kiln to make penguins (see photo).

Boise School District's Food & Nutrition Services recently launched a new state of the art website for students and their families. The website is loaded with nutrition resources to help students, teachers, and families learn about good nutrition and wellness, both at school and at home.
