Enhancing the Masonic Experience 2017

If you've been looking for direction and mentorship, the training scheduled for this Spring is what you've been waiting for. This training represents an exciting opportunity for the younger members of our fraternity. When the ones who have the knowledge drift away from our Brotherhood, they leave gaps in our Lodges. Where do we go to find the missing wisdom that we need to simply have our Lodges operate properly? There have been many attempts over the years to memorialize the collective wisdom and provide direction for future generations. The Master's Guide provides an overview for the Worshipful Master, and is not always handed down or made available to an incoming Master, and they proceed as best they can in finding their way, usually mimicking the Master before them. The Lodge-Counselor Plan of Masonic Education, last revised in 1970, provides an overview of the recommended process for engaging the candidate after he has been elected to receive the degrees. This is a very interesting read, and I would be very surprised to find many Lodges that are aware of it. It gives some interesting perspective on the current literature given to a candidate, beginning with 'Approaching the Portals'. Leadership and Idaho's Masonic Lodges was published in January of 2000, and contains a great deal of useful information, but again, it is not a document I hear mentioned or used amongst the Brethren. From West To East (Warden Manual) contains information for Wardens as they make their way to the East, and hopefully prepares them well for their year as Worshipful Master, if they read it. This brings us to the purpose of this training - to better communicate this direction and present in a more usable way so that it will be used, remembered, and transferred down the line. This will ensure that instead our Lodges focusing on survival, we can begin to turn our attention to growing into something much more inspiring and useful to all of us. This solution is not a quick one, but it is a simple one. Through proper training, and updated materials we will learn how to properly run our lodges which will free up resources, and make the experience within the lodge more enjoyable for our newer members and more appealing for prospective members. Once a Lodge begins working towards properly running as a successful Lodge, they will usually find that more current members will remain or become active and new prospects for membership will be attracted to the Lodge as well. Ultimately this will mean that our focus can be more appropriately applied to the relationships within our brotherhood instead of living at the mercy of the fear of membership decline and bankruptcy. This is an exciting time for us, and hopefully we will see some of you at this training.

Who can come:
Any Mason from the Youngest Entered Apprentice standing in the north east corner of the lodge to the Worshipful Master presiding in the east, should from time to time, sharpen his skills.

P.S.
Last year the brothers of this state asked for more training and this day of training was formed from those requests. It is the results of the hard work of Grand Lecturer Thomas Gough, Deputy Grand Master William "Bill" Curtis Jr., Grand Treasurer Randy King, MW Grand Master James A. Hensley, John Warner, PGM, Grand Secretary Monte Bollar and Past Master Jack Beck. to meet your training requirements.
