Dear CASA Supporter
This time of year is one of contrasts for our kids in the child welfare system. On the one hand, every child waits for the time when the school year ends, and the freedom of summer begins. However, for many of our CASA children, summer can add to the chaos and fear that they experience. The structure offered by the school year often provides an escape for children whose home lives are unpredictable and often frightening.
It shouldn't be that way.
A CASA can help fill the void for a child. In summer, children have many fewer contacts with people outside the home, but a CASA volunteer is still there to visit the child regularly and report any signs of maltreatment.
Our CASA volunteers always work tirelessly to ensure that children receive every service that is eligible to them. CASA volunteers often work to connect foster parents with scholarship options for summer camps that word be unaffordable otherwise, because every child deserves the chance to grow and develop during the summer months as well.
New children are entering care in Lake County at alarming rates, and we can only serve them with the support of community members who care to change the story. Help a CASA volunteer to do just that for a child this summer.
