MPA Geocaches
A couple of years ago we launched a geocaching program in the central coast to bring attention to the State's MPAs by hiding geocaches in adjacent land-based locations. Each geocache contains a map of the local MPA with some fun facts, "Celebrate California's MP
As" fish magnets for the taking, and a log book for visitors to sign. As the program demonstrated success, we then expanded it statewide and it now include 25 geocaches. This project has proven to be a "big bang for your buck"; however, from time to time, some ongoing maintenance is r
equired to replace lost geocaches or replenish supplies of the cache box. As many of these caches are outside of our immediate geographic area, we'd like to request the help of Collaborative members to aid in maintenance of those in your area. In addition, we welcome suggestions for additional areas that may be good to hide
a geocache. Funding is available to replenish existing caches and support new ones.
Please see the list below for existing caches and
this PDF, which highlights this program and its successes.
Please

if you're interested in helping out with any of these caches or want to suggest a new location.
