Take Time for Yourself at the Annual Attorney Wellness Seminar

We've all felt the pressures of juggling work and life responsibilities. Sometimes, we just need to take some time to check in and explore some different approaches for finding a healthy balance. This year's Attorney Wellness Seminar, hosted by the Akron Bar Association Lawyers Assistance Committee in partnership with Heart to Heart Communication, will give you the chance to catch your breath and gain some new perspectives.

The seminar is on Friday, March 10 at the Tangier. The morning session will cover the importance of making and keeping professional and personal goals. Following a buffet lunch and a talk by our keynote speaker, University of Akron President Matthew Wilson, you'll explore ways to find and put into practice emotional, spiritual, and personal wellness goals. Speakers will address compassion fatigue, the opiate epidemic, embracing spirituality and resilience, financial wellness, and mindfulness.

For more information including the agenda and list of speakers, click here.

This program is made possible with the generous support of The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation.

Banner Honoring Judge Cacioppo, Councilman Davis Unveiled

History smiles on the pioneers; the individuals who have the courage, the will and the want to take steady aim at a goal and overcome obstacles to achieve those goals. The individuals recognized on February 1st at the Summit County Juvenile Court perfectly personified that definition.

Judge Mary Cacioppo and Councilman Ed Davis took different paths to prominence, but they walked in lockstep in one particular area: they had the bravery to become the first at what they did in public life. One, direct from Akron’s Firestone Park, the other from Alabama, by way of Pennsylvania to Akron’s Ward Three. Read more....

Seeking Writers for Akron Bar Examiner

We're looking for members of the Akron Bar who would like to submit articles to appear in the Examiner. Topics are of your choosing that relate to any aspect of the law, the legal profession,
a hobby or personal interest - whatever you'd like to share with other Bar members.

Consider a "Ten Top Things..." about your specialty.  Perhaps you'd like to describe a special project or even what you did on your last vacation. (Bill Dowling's bicycle trip trough Vietnam yielded incredible photos for the March 2015 issue....)

Deadlines are the 20th of each month for publication the following month. Interested? Send an email proposal to the Akron Bar Association Marketing Department at marketing@akronbar.org.

Fastcase Tip-of-the-Month

When you use your Akron Bar Association membership to access Fastcase, you can open an “Authority Check” report with just one click to see excerpts of all the cases that cite the selected case. Fastcase’s “Bad Law Bot” will have already flagged cases that have been reversed. It detects negative treatment automatically by scanning cases and looking for certain phrases used in accordance with the Bluebook rules. Find the right case the first time with the Akron Bar Association and Fastcase. See www.fastcase.com/badderlawbot/.
