Satellite Beach PD, Community Sponsors Promote Bicycle Safety
The Satellite Beach Police Department is partnering with Long Doggers and McDonalds to promote bicycle safety.

Officers have been out at school crossings educating children on the requirements to wear their helmets. All bike riders under the age of 16 are required by state statute to wear a helmet.

The consequence for not wearing a helmet could be a serious injury or a traffic ticket with a fine. Officers will be on the lookout for children wearing their helmets correctly and will reward them with a coupon for a free ice cream from Long Doggers or McDonalds.

New Facilities Increase Safety for Vulnerable Road Users
SR 520 - Cocoa
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is currently constructing sidewalks along SR520 in West Cocoa. The sidewalks, which will be on both the north and south sides of SR520, run from Tucker Lane, just west of I-95, to Aurora Road in the City of Cocoa where they will tie into existing sidewalk.

These sidewalks will provide a safer option for pedestrians in an area that has seen some serious pedestrian crashes in recent years.
Lake Washington Road
Brevard County Public Works recently completed an important sidewalk connection along Lake Washington Road. The section of sidewalk runs from the intersection of Lake Washington Road/Wickham Road west and connects with existing sidewalk just east of Turtlemound Road.

The sidewalk is an important improvement for the many transit riders and pedestrians in the area. It also completes a continuous sidewalk along Lake Washington Road from Wickham Road to Brevard County's Lake Washington Park.
BAC Hits the Streets
The Brevard Achievement Center is hittin' the streets to raise support for programs and services that help people with disabilities, at BAC, achieve personal success. Grab a navigator and ride on over to the Rockledge Country Club where they'll begin the Road Rally-style Scavenger Hunt around the Space Coast and end with race-style finish and celebration.  More Info & Tickets
