Using Campus Resources Increases Student Success
Winter break and interim is the perfect time to think about how the fall term went and what is next in regards to proactive steps and future goals. Please engage your student in this important conversation by asking open-ended questions: "What are you enjoying learning?", "How was the semester different from what you expected?", "Are there areas that you could use academic support assistance?"

This can also be a great time to have a conversation with a campus resource they've been meaning to visit. There are website links to a variety of offices at the bottom of this newsletter. They all offer free services to help your student be successful!

Has Your Student Received A Flu Shot?
The flu shot is an important and affordable defense for your student's health this winter. Despite recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), flu vaccination rates remain very low on US college campuses, hovering between eight and 39 percent. On average, college students who get the flu experience illness of eight days or more. That's a lot of time lost in the span of a short semester (or even shorter interim!). Flu shots are available on campus at the Student Health Center for $15, and can be billed to your student's account. If you have any questions, please call the Student Health Center at (920) 424-2424 or visit their website at  studenthealth.uwosh.edu for more information.

Community Advisor (CA) Selection Process
The Community Advisor (CA) selection process for the 2017-2018 academic year will begin soon. Interested students are encouraged to attend an informational ice cream social on Wednesday, February 1 from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in Taylor Hall.

Meal Plan Information
Your student's meal plan--both meals and Titan Dollars--will work throughout the January Interim, and any unused Titan Dollars will carry over to spring semester. Their spring 2017 meal plan will be loaded prior to the start of spring semester, and your student will receive an email verifying that their meal plan has been loaded to their TitanCard. Please note that they will also receive their new allotment of spring 2017 Titan Dollars as part of their housing and meal plan at the start of spring semester.

If your student is interested in changing their meal plan for the spring semester, they can email  [email protected] from their UWO email account with their name and eligible meal plan choice. The deadline to make this change for spring 2017 is Thursday, February 2 at 2 p.m.

At any time you can deposit more Titan Dollars to your student's account by visiting our online card office. To learn more about your student's Titan Dollars, visit  reeve.uwosh.edu/titancard.

Dining hours of operations can be found at  reeve.uwosh.edu/hours.

Residence Hall Information
Residence Hall room change requests are being accepted for the spring semester. You can email  [email protected] to request a change.

The 2017-2018 room sign-up for current residence hall students will begin in February. Students will receive additional information regarding room sign-up in January. UW Oshkosh follows the Board of Regents housing policy requiring all first and second-year students to live on campus unless they meet certain criteria. Specific criteria for residing off campus can be found at  housing.uwosh.edu. The winter break provides a great opportunity to speak with your student about their experience and what they are considering for their living arrangements for the upcoming academic year. Studies show that students who live and work on campus succeed academically at a higher rate than those students who do not live and work on campus.
